I read the racer x article, and not quite sure what to think, and i heard an interview from eli that said that aaron was the clear choice but the ama are going to choose whoever they want, something like that.
I don’t know really, I’ll guess we have to wait and see. I don’t always trust those sites.
I totally understand where you are coming from, I don’t totally trust racer x right now either becuase of the lack of reasons why.
Get your vision checked and then go look at the Ironman results, or the Budds Creek results.
Eli is a great rider and a tremendous talent, but selection to the Motocross of Nations is about results from this racing season.
Facts matter.

I gotta say, I was all on the Eli wagon until he said himself he thinks AP should have the spot. If we want to send Eli based on legend status, send him next year in his final year when he has a (hopefully) full summer of racing under his belt and it’s a perfect farewell to his final full year of racing. If we’re picking the team today, I think AP should be the guy to go over Eli.
It feels good to be in this position for a change for team USA. We’re at least debating which top tier guy should go vs. scrounging for people that are even willing to go.
If I’m responsible for the USA MXON Team…?
I’m picking an alternate for each class…getting that “funded” seems impossible, tho.
With SMX still coming up between now and the race, anything can happen….especially with all that money and fast-challenging “mixed discipline” tracks involved. As we saw last year, crashes at SMX can be pretty big. Chases crash at L.A. Coliseum comes to mind…
Good news is whoever we send should do better than Craig did, theoretically.
This. The conversation is a lot better this year knowing we can actually send people that can preform.
People shouldn't be going to the MXDN based on 'legend status'. They should be going based on recent results or the possibility of getting good results. If Eli's results are good next year, send him.
Yeah, it's outrageous what Star and that redneck hick Bobby Regan get away with.
The only criteria that should be used for being picked is how someone will perform.
And we know based on AP's previous nations performances, he doesn't get the best results. I think the best result he had gotten in years was going 5 5 7 at 2018 nations. That is based on the racer x website. Looking back at his results, he hasn't done half bad but I still feel we don't get to see his full potential at nations. I apologize for my previous Plessinger mxon slander.
He actually went 16-14 in 2018. But I think it’s safe to say he is riding the best he ever has right now and I’d be shocked if he puts in results like that at Matterley Basin.
Where would I be able to find the actual results from previous motocross of nations? And I just hope he can preform when we need him to and at least be in the top 10.
This should take you to the 2023 results but you can select what year you want:
