He rode SX lites in 2011 the same year he won his Mxgp mx2 title. The Mxgp season started even before the SX season concluded, so he basically rode SX one weekend and then raced a GP the weekend after that. He also podiumed the Las Vegas final (best West rider that night), then went 1-1 one week after at the US GP after just turning 17 year old. He was a rare talent..

I was wondering if Suzuki is using this as a test to determine whether they should improve the 250, but with the minimal changes they have made the last 5 years I highly doubt that is the reason he is riding the bike. Maybe it's to (hopefully) prove the bike can be competitive with the right rider. 

I do own a RMZ 250, good bike, just with it had electric start.

The reason roczen is riding the bike is because he wanted to. He was the one to came up with the idea and then asked the team. He tried that already in 2016 but there were some issues and therefor didnt happen

I don't think Suzuki gives a crap about dirt bikes in general much less improving them.

On one of the handful of podcasts they also mentioned that Ken is putting his own money into the bike/program to make it happen as well. Definitely just having fun with it!
