Hey all,
I came on here for some opinions on what I should do for my next bike/upgrade. I’m a 15 year old, 5’9, 120lbs, beginner rider that is currently riding a 2014 CRF 150RB. My bike has been great so far, but it’s getting small. My initial thought was to move up to a 250 4T, but after talking to some people… they recommended for my weight, and because I’m smaller and not very strong, I should go to a 125 2T first. Yes, I also did have some people that were agreeing with me and suggesting I go to the 250 4T for my next bike. If I were to go to 250 4T, I would most likely be going for a 2024 KTM 250 SX-F, and for a 125 2T not too sure yet, maybe a KTM 125. Anyway, just wanted to here everyone opinion because people would telling me, at my age and size and strength right now, the 125 2T might be a better choice, but some also were suggesting going straight to a 250 4T.
I’m open to all suggestions and/or questions.
Thanks.
If you're hyperactive, full of energy and aggression the 125 2 stroke is the bike for you, you will learn how to maintain corner speed and rpm!
If you are laid back, and not aggressive the 250 4 stroke is the bike for you, you can be lazy and use the bikes low end torque to build speed out of corners.
YZ125 and talk all your buddies into getting 125’s also.
Don’t skip the 125. Imo it’s critical for learning to carry your momentum and will help you be faster when you do go 250f

Yes buy the 125. Best bike choice for you.
Not only should you make the switch, but nobody should have switched over to 4t to begin with! Long live the 2 stroke!
Seriously though, you learn lessons on a 125 that you never will on a thumper. Even if you go back to 4 strokes, your time on a 125 will be well-spent. Get one, ride it like a hero, and enjoy!
As much as I love 2t, I would say just get the 4t. Its easier to ride and less forgiving and it’s the current technology and you’ll grow into the 250 4 stroke.
Go get a 125. It’s the most fun you can have on a bike and one day when the two strokes are gone, you will regret if you never got one.
There will be time for four strokes in the future for you.
Absolutely 125.
I’d look for the nicest carbureted Austrian 125 I could find.
When I learn all of those valuable lessons on the 125 I'll move up. I'm 62 now. Maybe by the time I'm 65 I'll be ready
