The only take out move I'd pull if I were MA, would be to simply check out. That would deliver the most pain to his opponents.

MA had a chance to surround himself with the best people in the sport, but opted to wrap himself the the security blanket offered by his dad.

Fork in the road - wrong path taken.

Good luck Mike. I think you and your "people" are running out of excuses. I don't think Pit and Everets are taking credit for being "your people" at this point in time.

Good luck with that TV show thing. Motocross seems to be beyond you and "Team us".

He had a program that included an opportunity to do a couple of GP warm-ups and a couple of GPs in order to work with the bike and the team and learn A LOT!

Didn't happen. How could KTM respect anything that even resembled MA's committment to the sport.

I'm pretty sure his name evokes screams of FUCK NO!! amongst real race teams.

I think you all have forgotten how well he rode last year before he got hurt. He has proven that he does not need GP warm ups to be competitive at round one. I hope he and the others can stay healthy so we can have a great outdoor season where more than one guy is capable of winning. There are only a small handful of people that can get a bad start and make it work but If MA can start in the top 10 on that 350 I believe he will be battling for wins.

If Cairoli can holeshot on the 350 in GP's, what makes you think that Alessi, one of the best starters of all time can not do the same.

Holeshots are a wonderful thing. Having the self-confidence to finish a moto at the front is simply another thing.

Mikey has a lot of proving to do.

Both Grant (hopefully now) and Alessi have too much at stake to get caught up screwing with each other.

Their race here last year was terrific.

Hehe, I thought this might be an MA thread. Was thinking more about how many laps it will take for "us" (Team Alessi) to completely implode. Like a double blown head gasket. If "we" can make it through round one and line up for the USGP, I'll send Bobby M chocolates.

NO matter how much proof you offer some people just won't accept that the bike will be plenty powerful against teh 450's and get holeshots.....some will just have to see it for themselves and even then there will be a few that will call it a fluke "Wait till X round" and he'll continously prove everyone wroong .....the bike will be perfectly equipped with power.

Seems like all you have to do is let Grant ride and he takes himself out every year.
Grants reputation preceedes him.
I like good racing and a little bar bangin' is OK but the attitude of taking someone out isn't my take of a great racer.
Guess a lot of questions will be answered tomorrow.

D
I was with you 'til you said Alessi is smart. Oh... wait. that's the first thing you said.

And when he does, the conspiracy theories will come out that its not really a 350 and more like a 400 or 450.

RacerX: Hangtown Press Conference Report

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Josh Grant supplied some of the press conference’s more entertaining moments, joking that he had been preparing for the season by hanging out and watching TV on the couch. He also caused chuckles by nodding emphatically when Jagermeister KTM’s Mike Alessi mentioned that some people felt the 350cc KTM might suffer on starts.

“I think the bike is going to be just as competitive as a 450 on the start,” Alessi responded. “I think it’s going to be good, and if Josh is so confident, then I guess he’ll get the start. I guess we’ll see.”

FTE's right.

Besides, JG has a multi-mission weekend ahead of him. He's motivated like NEVER before.

Mike's jus' gonna have to get some results and STFU.

Everyone's talkin' about these two...when...I think you're forgettin' about the real action...

Here's the thing: JG is rippin' the wheels off of bikes in testing. He's on fire.
Mike's been a far cry from Stellar.

Then there's Ryan...Chad...etc.

No one thinks that, based on Vegas...just -2- weeks-ago...

That Ryan won't "Run away"?

I dont know MA's practice routine but from what alot of people have been saying, he was practicing a ton of starts. Maybe because of the 350? Anyone know if thats normal for him? I have never seen a badder trigger finger than him on the Zook, the season Bubba went undefeated. Funny, I dont know if he was joking or not but Bubba was saying it was because Mike weighed less. Whats Bubba weigh, all of 140lbs prob?

As if JG hasn't been as disappointing as MA in the results dept over the last couple of years (save one very fluky, but cool, win).

Def pulling for RD5 but really have no clue who's gonna win. Thats def a good thing though. Reedy should be much more solid since he had no testing last year. Ryan should be super confident coming off the supercross title and waxing everyone at Vegas to end it. Grant looks like he's absolutely flying in all the vids I have seen of him, he has such great style anyways though so he always looks fast all by himself on the track. Not sure about MA, he look so good on the Zook. If him and Tony, more so Tony, could have just listened to Roger and stayed with Suzuki I think he would be the hands down favorite. Not that the KTM is bad by any means but I think he should be on the 450, not so much because of the cc's he giving up but once he gets into intense Nat racing who knows what kind of kinks are gonna pop up. Then again Cairolli hasnt had any mechanical probs right? I CANT WAIT FOR THE GATE TO DROP!

I just watched the SX season in review and was reminded how many times Dungey holeshot in the SX season. You'd have to be silly to think that a 350 is going to holeshot every other 450 on the gate. I am definitely anxious to see how it goes.

Maybe Tony Cairoli is silly to have had a number of holeshots against the MX1 guys this year.

Or maybe they give him a 2 second head start because they feel sorry for him for being on a 350.
