For MA to put a take out move on JG?
It will be within the first lap that they are near each other. I think it will be before lap 4 of the first moto. If Alessi can catch Grant that is. I just do not think MA can holeshot on a 350.
You know how people change when they put the ol moto lid on... well these two turn into sugar freaked 6 year olds!!

IMO, Alessi doesn't have the balls, or the speed to put a move on JG.

If he does, it will just show his lack of mental development as a racer. Wasting time trying to crash someone, which may possibly take yourself down, when there is little to gain and much to lose is a sign of racing immaturity. that's just my 2-cents tho.

As far as I am concerned Grant owes MA one. Alessi amost too out JG when he shouldn't have been on the track.

I agree but "they" may just lose it and they may yell at themselves from the sidelines and they will become as they were as amateursSmile

I would bet money that MA's mechanic feels the need to say "no revenge just go out and win" on the gate. Which will be ignored.

This is spot on in a nutshell. They are both way too experienced and have way too much to lose to bother.

Hehe, I thought this might be an MA thread. Was thinking more about how many laps it will take for "us" (Team Alessi) to completely implode. Like a double blown head gasket. If "we" can make it through round one and line up for the USGP, I'll send Bobby M chocolates.

I think we can all agree that, CR and JS and RV and RD are all far more racing mature than these two and they cannot keep it civil on the bike. Both MA and JG have a history with decision making as well as a long rivalry.... I can't wait to watch!!

RacerX: Hangtown Press Conference Report

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Josh Grant supplied some of the press conference’s more entertaining moments, joking that he had been preparing for the season by hanging out and watching TV on the couch. He also caused chuckles by nodding emphatically when Jagermeister KTM’s Mike Alessi mentioned that some people felt the 350cc KTM might suffer on starts.

“I think the bike is going to be just as competitive as a 450 on the start,” Alessi responded. “I think it’s going to be good, and if Josh is so confident, then I guess he’ll get the start. I guess we’ll see.”

i liked RC's comment during the Vegas SX when he said that the helmets must squish the riders brains a little bit

IT9 deffff owes Alessi one from that Glen Helen incident a few years back. I'd like to see what those two do next to each other on the track.

Grant will take MA800 out within the first few laps of the season

For those who don't remember Hangtown last year, In the second moto Alessi was all over Grant and had plenty of chances to run it in on Grant and did not. At one point Grant had both his feet on one side of the bike. IMO For those who think Alessi is going to try parking Grant I think your crazy... On the other hand if Grant see's the oppurtunity he will be all over it. As far as balls go Grant has Alessi covered. The better question I think will be if Grant will be able to catch Alessi. All this will be answered tomorrow!

Alessi races to win.......Grant does some stupid things sometimes. I think both will be fast. Alessi is consistently fast outdoors and Grant has been hit and miss.....It would be nice to see another Hannah/Howerton race......I don't think Reed thinks to much of Alessi either.......

and Glen Helen and.... and....

When Mike is "on" Josh Grant has nothing for him. We've seen it too many times to think otherwise.

I don't know how the change from Suzuki to KTM will affect Mike, but I know that he is a better outdoor rider than all but possibly one guy currently racing right now and none of the guys better than him are younger.

Alessi is too smart to try and mix it up with Grant, so are the rest of the guys.
Seems like all you have to do is let Grant ride and he takes himself out every year.
Grants reputation preceedes him.
I like good racing and a little bar bangin' is OK but the attitude of taking someone out isn't my take of a great racer.
Guess a lot of questions will be answered tomorrow.

Mrtf do you watch motocross? I bet if you look back in the results at least 90% of the time that JG and MA are on the same starting gate MA finishes ahead of him

Has that ever happened?? MA has always had Grant covered speed wise and I don't see that changing. Do you really not know if that's ever happened? It's happened 100's of times. From 60cc's to the 450 MA had easily gapped JG when ahead of him. Look at Freestone last year. He gapped JG by close to a minute in one moto... IMO JG will not be close to MA this year.
