You're downplaying the relevance of Team USA. Everyone wants them to be there, and the race isn't the same when they are not.
I would say win or lose, Team USA draws the most viewership and interest worldwide. The reason for that is because Team USA has the biggest targets on their backs.
Currently, it's two Americans leading the AMA series, with Deegan and Sexton, and everyone wants to see Deegan (if he goes) go against Kay de Wolf and Lucas Coenen. That alone would be the biggest draw. Not whoever rides MX2 for Australia.

A - Do we even know if Deegan is going this year or not, it seems to change every week whether he is or not
B - Has there really even been that much hate for Deegan this year ? After last years attitude of " We're not going if we don't think we can win " nobody really expects him to go any way....which to me is whatever because of the whole concept of the athlete and the team having to pay to go to this race is ridiculous when the promoter is making so much money off of it.
I wonder how much of Star's reluctance has to do with their double super top secret attitude toward anyone having access to one of their engines...
I can't see why anyone would hate on Max or Haiden if they want to go but the team isn't willing to send them. They can't do it out of their own pocket. On the other hand, people may blast Star. Max wants to go.
Why should they hate on Star? Was that part of Max’s contract that they support him and they aren’t honoring that?

I’m mostly kidding, and I don’t see any hating here. It just seems like anytime someone says something that’s not fully asskissing a rider they’re immediately labeled a hater.
I totally get what you’re saying, and I’ve got no issue with anyone skipping races that aren’t in their contract. Total respect for anyone who goes to the MXoN, I’ll be watching for sure and I’ve followed the event since the late 70s, but I see it as volunteer work, not required work. And when the organizers profit from everyone’s national pride, that makes it a little slimy to me.

no i am not, american motocross did that to himself.....before last decade the race was empty if teamUSA didn't go, american racers were the stars of the world of motocross, they were clear favorites and very hard to beat.....in the last 15 years, they dropped motocross, they started with the sx only contracts, sx became everything, they have only one win and 5 podiums since 2011
last year edition was said to be the best ever, with teamUSA being Plessinger, Hampshire and Craig, a 2nd level team that got 8th place......if they weren't there the race would have been the same, the best ever.......
as for the home series last 3 years americans won 7 titles, to 8 won by foreigners, including supercross and giving 2024 mx titles to 2 americans, ten years ago this was just impossible to be true.....

The first part is so true. I get hated on if that's what you want to say for not being a fan of jett, even though I respect him and I am a fan of haiden and sometimes called a glazer, same with other people.
Ten years ago a German won the 450 motocross title and a Frenchman was in contention for the 250 title on a privateer Yamaha.

Every year Amercan riders kit their bike and themselves for American day or whatever and the likes of Tomac skip mxdn

No. My point was that if the team doesn't want to send the rider due to whatever the reason may be, people would probably hate on that.
You gotta be pretty ignorant to still think Tomac simply didn’t want to go. He’s participated in the event with every team he’s raced for but only with Kawasaki was it an issue.
Seems like a very reasonable number of people. Star probably wants to send that many for their guy alone. And when all these guys talk about how much out of pocket they're spending, they aren't telling you that's so their wife and parents and kids can come on vacation too.
