Babbits Yamaha Parts house. Im honestly surprised it shipped so fast. No shipping on linkage yet though.

I ordered both the linkage and connecting arm because I wasnt sure if it all had changed. Though someone pointed out its the same part number. As for the bearings, yes I believe you have to.order them all as well. I got them from rocky mountain because they are the same as previous years.

Might be.  I kept running 300v with the Hinson clutch pack, but changed to SAE oil when I put the Hinson inner hub in, so it definitely could have been the added oil flow.  Hinson inner hub has LOTS more holes and reliefs for oil.

I’d also recommend the stiffer spring if you ride off road or are hard on clutches. To me that made a noticeable difference.

Hinson vs OEM inner hub:

We did drill holes to stock inner hubs on 250f to get better oil flow. Seems stock 450f inner hub could benefit that also. More often its just middle plates that need more oil/cooling.

Can you share how that footpeg mount is different?

Yes, heres a picture. I currently have D02-21448-00 which is the right side footpeg bracket. The rear of the bracket is straighter and cut at an angle on the backside. Instead of the 23-24s triangle shape. And well, that seems to be it. Footpeg location seems to be the same but I cant fully tell without pulling it off the bike. I'm going to wait until the left side comes in first before doing that.1000004837

Someone pointed out a potential problem in the linkage quest here. The 2024 and 2025 swing arms have different part numbers. 😐 whenever the knuckle comes in well see if this conquest was a failed venture. Got both new engine mounts installed and gonna try and do an actual ride with them tomorrow see if theres any noticable difference.

Edit:I checked Babbits and they actually have two different swing arm part numbers for the 2025  one different and one matching the 24. Im guessing one comes bare and and one with all the bearings?

Previous years have had two swingarm part numbers as well, but only a $30 price difference between the two. The 2025 is a significant price difference at over $250. I'm not sure what's the difference between the two, but I'd be really surprised if there were any geometry changes that would effect the motion ratio.

I believe Star was putting 2017 swingarms on their bikes because they were longer. Some folks in this thread did the same to varying degrees of success. Maybe the new one is a touch longer?

Yeah and its 250 bucks cheaper as well  i checked on Babbits and the second swing arm part number matches the 2024 and is similiar if not the same price. I don't have the two prices pulled up right now to tell you exactly. I know my KX450X and other Kawis seemed to have the same parts but different numbers at times as well but I can't pull any examples from memory. Geometry was immediately the biggest concern, but nothing ventured nothing gained. If they are different, there are issues, or if its a complete success. Ill continue to report back here.

Did a test ride on the front engine mounts today, and there was a bit of a difference. The biggest thing I noticed was vibration. Never had one of my hands start to tingle on the bars. Running OEM bars and Odi lock on grips. The trail was the normal trail I run, high speed desert with soft sand, sections of hard pack. Deep whoops, and some tight technical single track. I aimed to ride at a couple different paces, a fast hard pace, a more chill lazier pace, and a middle ground.

Bike settings:
Fork height 5mm
Front springs: 5.2 OEM Valving 2024
Rear Spring: 6.6 OEM Valving 2024

I did have some more front end feel so that twitchiness was a bit more predictable. It reminded me specifically of my 23 Honda CRF250 with its characteristics and the 250 specifically because it was twitchy but less rigid than the CRF450.  If you like your bike now I wouldn't rush out to get them. Another thing I noticed and this may be because of fork height is it felt like my front tires contact patch was back closer towards me vs being further out. When the front would tuck it would feel like the rear of the front wheel was pushing forward instead of the front half of the front wheel being driven into the dirt. So I found that being as far up on the bikes front end helped out a lot especially mid corner. Only thing keeping the intake from eating my balls was the airbox lid and air filter. Bike was still stable on the brakes up and down but once you start pushing more lean angle and trail braking into a corner it would want to tuck in the fashion I explained above. Ill track test it here in a couple weeks at our MX tracks next round.

No shipping on relay arm yet.

TLDR: Sandy, and hard pack desert trail, Fast and slow
2025 engine mounts on 2024 with 2024 linkage.
Vibrates more
More front end feel but not much.
Still twitchy.
Put the boys on the airbox lid to make less twitchy.

Have you tried the longer clamps yet? They really made the bike more stable. Front end is easier to turn, like left effort to turn the bars.

I’ve only heard great things about the race cups with stock clamps. I would have ordered them already if I didn’t get the lonng Luxon clamps.

Anyone tried a Hinson Back torque limiting clutch in their bike?  Wondering if it has any better clutch life vs Hinson inner Hub and pressure plate.

While the BTL doesn't show on Hinson's website, yet, they do offer it.  I called to talk with them this morning about options for my bike and they said they need to update website so it will show up for the 23+ YZ450.

Smoked my clutch at ~20 hours.  1st time I've ever done this in my 20+ years of riding.  Had 100+ hours on my last Honda clutch and it was still in spec!

Not yet, I havent put the money to a set of new triples yet. Though its definitely a possibility. Race cups look absolutely sick but I cant yet justify to myself spending that money and having to buy special bearings everytime I need to replace them.

It looks like they just machined some off the top of the footpeg mount. Where that is shouldn't affect strength if you did the same with the 23/24 mount.

Heading the vet fest next weekend.. rode a local spot today..

Last two times i went riding, it took a few cranks to get my bike to fire.. No other issues tho..

Im nearing 10 hours and i duno if its in my head from reading so much, but im wondering if my clutch is starting to slip..

Anyone put the hinson replacement plates and fibers in? Holding up better? Any tricks for install? I cant make myself try the rekluse kit for twice the money. Going to order oem kit or hinson tonight.

Your clutch is probably on its way out…..

I smoked mine last weekend and had to push the bike back to the pits, no fun.

Full Hinson BTL setup will be here next week!

My ‘23 was, and now my ‘24 as well, can be hard to start sometimes when cold. Once it’s warm it starts and runs without issues. Not sure why.

The clutches in these bikes can be a little soft as well. I replace the own plates and fibers with Hinson plates and fibers and get a lot more life out of the clutch

It’s pretty intuitive. If you’ve done a clutch of any kind before, you’ll have no trouble at all with this one.

Got the full 2025 linkage in. Unfortunately ordered the wrong bearing kit so I won't be able to try it out until they come in. Though the embargo seems to lift on Monday so we'll find out if its better or worse then.

That sucks having to see your bike that someone else didn't buy from you!

Refresh us on the details... I know your bike got stolen but remind me how you know where it's at?

Must be hard not wanting to go track down and take back your own bike.  I know it's likely safer to just let it be and move on but stealing something and then posting about it like it's yours is just wrong on so many levels!
