Anyone else have this problem? Are other boots taller?
i just extended the boot with some ductape and cardboard and it works... but not great look
Any suggestions would be great. My boots are pretty worn out... so maybe they are flexing deeper on the ball of my foot more than they should. It is scary when you go to preload and it gets caught you don't get that pop.
Thanks in advance.

.
Yes my Gaernes hook on my 21 Yz450 side panel. I have lowering pegs and it makes it worse. I cut the plastic tabs off of my boots and it helped. Also adjusted my footwork. Still hooks every once in a while. Its a scary thing when they both hook!
Yep, my Gaernes hook too. Actually less of a "hook" and more of a "Lock-on". I tug with my leg but they won't release the first time. Unnerving as hell. Stock peg height, size 9 boots in good shape.
Ive felt it a few times in tech 7s. Never bad enough to raise concern. The kx i had i was catching quite a bit worse.
I have the same issue with my Astars Tech 7. Especially on the left side. Interested in seeing your solutions

Same thing happened to me yesterday, first time riding my son’s yz450,Right side panel wearing fox instinct boots
Never had an issue wearing an SG12 on any '14 - current yz or yzf. I few years ago I tried some Tech 7's and about died when they hooked under the plastic. One thing to maybe look at is the Acerbis frame guards. They may space the boot out enought to help. Moved to Tech 10's and never had an issue.
Along this topic, I have an older set of Tech 10's I wear in the woods. I am now on a KTM xc, but jumped on my sons yz250x and again...almost died! The inside plastic just above the ankle on the Tech 10's will crack over time with flex and wear. It can and does catch on the backside of the yz two-stroke frames and locks you in!
This happens to me on the new gen gasgas bikes. Usually just the right hand side around the master cylinder guard and the start of the number plate.
Get bigger plastic ?
A friend of mine who wears Gaerne boots, took a grinder to them to solve the problem.
I’ve had my tech 7s catch the side of the plastics of my Kx250 and it also has somewhat scared the shit outta me.
Back in 2021 when I bought a new yz250f, I experienced my boots catching and locking on the side plates. It scares the shit out of you, especially when you cant get you feet unlocked until you land from a jump and you wondering if your gonna blow out your knees🤣🤣🤣.
At the time i was wearing worn out SG 10's and never thought nothing of it. I trimmed the top of the boots and even ground the weld a little smoother where the subframe mounted just because it was uneven and sticking out. That never solved the issue. Ultimately i bought a new pair of Sidi's Crossfires and that fixed the issue. Once in a blue moon i might get my boot stuck, but its mainly due to me moving in an awkward way.
I think a caller asked Phil Nicoletti about this on the pump show, he runs a piece of carbon fiber or something there to prevent it.
I thought there was a thread on here that talked about it but I was unable to locate it
