This is a gnarly sand pass that has stuck in my mind for a long time.  Pass is at the 32.19 mark.  Enjoy.

To think that there were people who had the audacity to call Herlings finished. I never had any doubt that they would end up looking very foolish. He looks almost as good as he ever has. To be there in person today and witness that ride in that first moto is something I’ll never forget. Herlings has no shortage of unbelievable performances, that’s right up there amongst his very best

The only guy who probably beat Jett straight up when he is on.

Good to see him finally healthy and back to his best.

Herlings is a monster at Lommel, PERIOD.  Yet, I don't think he carries that same advantage back on more traditional medium and hard pack surfaces.  We'll find out at Uddevalla in 2 weeks as that is a more hard pack surface.  But then Arnhem is pretty soft which favors Herlings again.  Then Frauenfeld goes hard pack after that and so does Afyon.  There's more hard pack than sand left on the calendar.  Can Herlings beat Gajser on the hard pack?  I don't know...  Will Herlings beat Gajser in the sand?  Likely.  I think more tracks favor Gajser in this final stretch...

2018 spec Herlings was winning on every surface, don’t know about the older beat up version. Tim better wrap this up before they get back to the sand. Prado is still in it here to

Yes, I'm talking about '24 Herlings...  2018 Herlings pretty much just beat himself, sadly too often.

Didn’t he win pretty much everything in 2018?

Herlings would win on a sand track. I don’t know how many races people need to see of Herlings riding the sand to convince them he is the best sand rider in the world. He grew up on the stuff.

Exactly. Prado is an ELITE sand rider, he is phenomenal in the sand in his own right, I would be stunned if either Jett or Tomac beat Prado at a track like Lommel. Herlings was going 5-7 seconds a lap faster than Prado.

Agree on the above. It's exciting just reading back that final sentence. How insane was his pace at the end of Race 1.

bruh I kno , I been watching the bullet since 2013 so I kno how much of a killa he is on sand but I’d still like to see those 3 on a sand track together, the technique, the pace & strategy in their game plans on how to attack the track , Jett’s ability to read & adapt to the conditions etc….

and this is exactly why JH 84 is known as the Bullet.

As much as I admire the skills of TG 243, the Bullet is the fastest man in the world.

Unfortunately i think Uddevalla was the nail in the coffin for Herlings title chances. There is no way that he wins without both Prado and Gajser having major issues.

But the title fight will be very close either way, Prado is getting closer. Gajser really need to break the momentum.

A first I thought no way he catching up, But Prado found his form again and Tim's has dipped and he's pulling double digit points back each weekend on Tim now. It is so on now.

How does he do it? What technique does he use in the sand? He looks amazing, like he’s floating.

Yesterday he was the fastest but the starts weren't there, I think he still has a shot at the title but he needs a really bad moto from Gajser and Prado, that mechanical DNF in Portugal was costly for him. Each of the last 3 races are beneficial for the top 3:

Turkey: Man made Hard pack track, suits Tim, won there last year after coming back from injury.

China: Man made high speed track, suits Jorge

Cozar: New track in the calendar, could suit Jorge because its in Spain but I've heard that they are putting a lot of sand in the track, so it could suit Jeffrey.

This championship has been amazing, would have been even better in Romain had been healthy all year, could have had all MXGP champions in a battle for the 2024 crown, cant wait for the last 3 races!
