His first language is motocross, which is why I think he’s done a great job being a commentator, and adds value to the production. I was especially impressed with some of his perspective during the Washougal broadcast.
He is the consummate racer, not the consummate orrater. He does a really good job telling us what’s going on in the mind of the racer and pointing out critical decisions by the racers.
I really like Will too, and JT. I think they all add interesting anecdotes, perspective, historical context, behind the scenes insight, and everything else that goes into overlaying words throughout a sporting event. That’s not an easy thing to do and I think all of you people need to just take a step back and appreciate what’s involved there. Frankly, I think most of you complaining about the broadcast have your heads up your asses and nothing better to do but complain.
R.C "let the race come to him". Better for sure.

lol, and you think we have our heads up our asses, lol.
I'm usually onboard with the criticism of his announcing but I think he was much better at Washougal....seemed more natural.
Now if they would just move Will's segments to where they belong; not during the race.

This thread did NOT go OPs way. Sad.
I'm shocked it reached 3 pages actually, and have no issue with how it went...
I was especially amused when someone called anyone who complains about the broadcast "a baby"! Such a mature comeback LOLOL
EDIT: And for the record I wish Wil wasn't given as much airtime during the motos, but her voice is not unpleasant to me. AND she's much prettier close up and in person than on the broadcast. Interestingly the Monster girls look great on the broadcast, but man do they ever lay on the makeup cake when you see them off screen, and they're all skinny as a rail! I guess it's true television adds 10 lbs (they could all use it in reality IMO - if I'm permitted to share 'MO' in this thread). ;-)
Thanks for keeping it alive!!!
Weege is great, but let me get this right... You had a chance to get a pic with the GOAT, but you chose to get a pic with your favorite MX announcer? Dafuq?
Must be one of those artsy, iintellectual types? To each his own.
Ricky has been doing this for years. He’s not getting ‘much better’ or really changing at all at this point.
You can tell James commentary is in his head because he tries to talk bike set up more after hearings James do it all year and he doesn’t have the ability to explain it like James. Even if James is wrong he can at least paint a better picture.
Winning....it speaks for itself.
That being said, he may be dyslexic.
I had just exited the porta-pot when I saw RC to be honest, and had to get back to my flagging duties. I gave him a "Hey Ricky, and got a nod and smile in return, but didn't figure I'd impose on him when he may have known from where I just exited hahaha.
I was flagging close enough to the rig they were in and could have tracked him down on one of my breaks, but no I didn't really feel the need for a selfie with RC.
And as for the selfie with Weege, it was a fun conversation about how he flagged a race once and got paid $40. I told him 'yeah i heard there are some who claim there's no proof of that happening'. He laughed.
LOL - hardly... and no that isn't my down vote Randy
+1 on James and his bike setup observations. Keep 'em coming JS7!
I thought he did pretty damn good last weekend.
Ricky massacring the English language is just part of the total joy of having sensational coverage of the sport I love.
He is an authority on Moto Cross racing. Not a language coach or poet. It’s a special charm. I hope he never changes.
RC4 is fine......VitalMX posters not so much.
You guys would bitch if you were "hung with a new rope."
