Do guns shoot people on their own?

That’s the question put before the court based on Alec Baldwin’s own statements.

Meanwhile, his defense is arguing…well, based on their media-front…attempting to present arguments that he’s not responsible for alllll sorts of other reasons.

This is gonna get interesting.

I have some very basic questions…

Are YOU responsible for a weapon when it’s in your hand & you point it at someone?

What’s the responsibility of the production crew when it comes to “safety on the set” & the expenditures made/NOT made to that end…?

Who hired this rookie armorer?

How/WHY…were LIVE ROUNDS in that pistol?

I think Alec Baldwin production company is culpable.

I don’t think Alec Baldwin the actor who was handed a prop that’s checked by professionals is responsible.

Gun safety 101.... If someone hands you a firearm, you are responsible. It doesn't matter if a "professsional" armorer checked it or not... once you take possession of said firearm, YOU are responsible. Anytime ANYONE hands me a firearm, even if I just watched them check it, I always check it myself. Plus, you never point a gun, loaded or not, at anything you do not wish to shoot.

10 million%   ^^^^This.

I think it's pretty sickening how that megalomaniac has been trying to weasel out of what he did.

No knife has ever jumped up and stabbed anyone on its own.

No rope has ever choked anyone on its own.

No truck has ever mowed a crowd down on its own.

No car (well maybe the random Tesla) has…

We used to buy and sell guns at truck stops for a few extra bucks. There’s no way I could ever keep track of what was loaded or mt.  It goes down like this . Hey man I ,ll sell ya 7 guns for a special price. I only want 1. Come on man you need at least 3 of 4 . You know a couple of your women r gonna take with a couple of them. Are they loaded ? How the hell would I know. I just bought them . I forgot I had 5 in here already. Etc

Shortly after the incident happened, I read somewhere that they were using the same gun to plink cans in the desert between takes. Talk about stupid.

Did I mention the Special Prosecutor, was my attorney at one point? She’s going to tear them apart, legally.

Nailed it. We were taught in the military that no firearm is safe until you check it yourself and make it safe. Also never point a firearm at anyone...even when it's "safe"

Accidents happen when you don't adhere to the above.

Edit - in the case of Mr Baldwin....he pulled the trigger.

Living in NY I completely understand the hoops required to jump through to own, carry or even legally pick up a hand gun. You have to sit through a safe gun handling class that teaches you in the first minute to always assume the weapon is loaded until otherwise proven it's not. If he didn't have a permit to handle the gun he should be in jail as far as I'm concerned.

118 guns managed to discharge themselves in Chicago over the holiday weekend.

Permit? Welcome to New Mexico, it’s still the Wild, Wild West here. We can Open Carry anywhere except an establishment that serves liquor!

Yeah, my "gun" has been known to go off on it's own, but never one of my weapons.

I don't frequent gun shops, but during the few times I was in one, no guns ever fired themselves. I'm sure I would have noticed, too, since most of them can fire 600,000 rounds per minute.

But would you agree he negligent in handling the gun now that we know he actually pointed another gun at another staffer and pulled the trigger firing a blank at said staffer?

And let's not gloss over this little gem

"And prosecutors revealed that a “Rust” crew member would testify that he saw Baldwin pull the trigger that day."

I wasn't there.  I didn't see it.  I haven't talked to anyone that has first or even second hand knowledge.

My own opinion is that since Baldwin is at least part owner in the production company he had some say so in who or how much was spent on safety.  I reckon the gal in charge was cheap and compliant with Baldwin whom I believe to be an arrogant prick.  Someone died because of his careless behavior.  There's gotta be serious consequences.  Jmo.Blush

Same in Tennessee.

And starting to see more and more open carry everywhere.

Gas stations while fueling.

Grocery stores.

I don't pack while out and about yet.

But there's a trusty 12ga pump always lying in my back seat.

Pretty sure it's not going to come after me when I unlock the door and crawl inside.

I open carry when the wife and I are boondocking.  For snakes mostly...the two legged as well.

Unless the laws have changed you couldn't open carry in bars or BANKS.  I guess it makes the tellers nervous.Grinning

I think the production company, producer, director, are all culpable in creating and fostering an unsafe work environment. The armorer is also highly highly culpable.

I don’t believe the “actor” is at fault here.

Little confusing because they are ultimately the same person/entity. We need to separate the actions of the actor from the actions of the production team that created and allowed an unsafe work environment.
