I don't follow SX enough anymore to gauge who should be in top 3...but it seems the talent is just not there in the big boy's class. SF Sx is the only I attended this year and the racing was excellent--but assumed Windham and Ferry were up there due to the conditions.

This weekend...An old Windham wins. Reed 2nd...Ferry 3rd. Josh Hill is up there in his first season. Why can't Tedesco, Milsaps, Alessi, etc consistently be in the top 10?..hurt or just don't have it? I find it hard to believe these guys aren't competitive...but maybe they just don't have the same drive as RC, Bubba, or even Reed. These guys should be laying it to older guys like Ramsey, Ferry, DV.

Maybe it takes experience to control one of those big bore beasts for 20 laps.

Just ask Stewie.

Clearly..

Alessi, Stewart, Tedesco, Langston are all injured now. And Josh Hill was beating them (except stewart) when they were still healthy early this season, that kid IS talented, Windham and Ferry are also having the best rides of their career for the most part and they actually are blazing fast. So to answer your question, no the quality isn't down, alot of people seem to be stepping it up.

Yeah...I saw hill when he was 10 at Albany and school the intermediates. I had no doubt he'd be good.

I don't see Milsaps "stepping it up". He should be up there. Ehh...I'm so far removed from SX news...I didn't even know who Stroupe raced for.

I think the quality of riders is as good as ever, the injuries and the economy is hurting the 450 class

The only reason so many contest Lites is it's only 8 races

no more talk of 350s...that will fix nothing other then shutting out the privateers and keeping the whoops from getting "cupped" ... :D

The AMA/FIM/Youthstream should work on the class structure instead of trying to recreate the wheel...

SX1 Open Class 250F-450F
SX2 250F Stock Engines, limit $$ in suspension, and limit the time you can race in the class

These things are already being handled better globally, where there is less marketing interference and no 500guy.

<img class= " title="Smile">

MX1 = 350s
MX2 = 250s, age limit 23 years, one year to defend and you move up.

Why re-invent the wheel again? It just got revised.

I think people will argue this for the next 3 years, but the answer is already in place and people are not paying attention.

Those are my notes from Monaco, where I sat with the FIM MX Commission president one on one to go over what was changing and when. Then when I posted the notes, people said I was full of shit and didn't know what I was talking about.

And I'm serious, that came from Wolfgang. I didn't make it up.

Why propose new changes when the real new changes haven't even started yet? <img class= " title="Smile">

When did Wolfgang start dictating policy for the USA ?
2/17/2008 2:47pm
Ask American Honda, they told the AMA to take a hike..

They took a plane ride instead, knocked on FIM's door.

done deal.

Things get done globally, when regionally they just argue forever.

So that's why Mr Blank from American Honda said they didn't plan on doing a 350 ?

That was in Cycle News 2 Weeks ago long after Monoco, So far only confirmed 350 is going to Be KTM

You are just getting used
2/17/2008 2:57pm
used for what?

Its just news.

Blank is huffing and puffing, and he is regional. 350s are in work, outside of his region.

Just because someone makes a statement in CN, it doesn't make it fact. What he said to CN was what he wants you to read.

You better start putting some sign on your posts for when you are reporting and when you are giving opinion, You are using the "reporting" guise to suit the moment.
2/17/2008 3:06pm
Thats silly.

Yer bored today I see.

You read the news last year when I reported it. I've been going to Europe and asked about this directly, twice. I'm not going through marketing spin, or asking them for how they want to spin it.

I can't believe you think just because a regional salesman says something to CN about a global matter, that you take that as fact...

This whole thing reeks of Camel toe.

Seriously you said decision is made. - it's not

You say 350's are in , FIM said so.

My question , are you just relaying/reporting wishful thinking ? Show me where anyone(big 4) besides KTM say's they are on board

Are you implying that the big 4 will not make motorcycles for the FIM requirement?

They'll quit racing altogether?
2/17/2008 4:00pm Edited Date/Time 4/16/2016 6:11pm
Nope they will race 250's and give the KTM an advantage. <img class= " title="Wink">

How many times do I need to answer the same questions?

I was in Europe, on site, when 1) this was decided between AMA/FIM and reported from Spain, and 2) when it was approved and finished, a meeting that took place in Monaco.

When you and the octopus were stressing over who bought dinner, we were working. Try and pay attention to the news, not the bullshit. <img class= " title="Smile">

I asked the FIM MX president in person about this. Thats my source. You are using as a source, an article in CN, where they asked the wrong people for the answer. The exact same person you are quoting from CN, is the very person that pissed Whitelock off a year previous that led to the Spain trip and agreements, bascially going around the American OEM importing companies.

Go ahead and believe what a salesman tells you, but it doesn't change the news, or the facts.

So you have no real answers as to 350's really being built or will Wolfgang be building them ?

And whitelock went to Europe just to screw Honda ?

Sounds about right

BTW, I heard Camel Toe too even laughed and joked about it on the AIM chat , Reporters said it never happened.

Crazy Shit I tell ya

At A1 Terry Boyd said Team Suzuki's James Stewart. Everyone around me heard it. Even Davey Coombs reported it on RacerXill.com. But then Live Nation stepped in and said it never happened and made DC apologize for calling Terry Boyd out on it. Yep, never happened.:?

Getting back to the thread at hand, before the hi-jacking. When the leader can lap up to 6th place in a 12 minute main, I'd say there is a lack of quality with the current Supercross riders.

Yeah...I agree. And the leader isn't the GOAT or the BOAT.

Back during the golden era of MX (the 70's) when men were men you only had 2 or 3 guys who could ride open bikes to their limits.
Today you only have 2 and one is hurt so I hope the rumors about 350's are true. It will improve the racing.

Well, the problem is the same as it's been for the last 15 years. That being the McGrath era, then the GOAT era. Now, with Bubba out, this is the Reed year. If you remove Reed from the mix, much like when Bubba was removed from the nationals last summer, the racing would be great. You'd have Ferry, Windham, Hill, Millsaps, and Short battling for wins. And without the injuries, Langston, Tedesco and even Alessi would be right there too. Sadly, Reed is making the race for the win boring. Just like McGrath did for the 90's, and the Goat did for the last 5 years (...sans the Bubba/Reed/Goat battles from '05 - '07). The racing going on behind him is really good though. If you want to see good racing, just ignore Chad, and pretend 2nd is 1st. :D
