Sexton "straight up"beat Lawrence.....? Edited

Edited Date/Time 7/1/2024 10:04pm

Come on Stewart, he didn't straight up beat him. There's obviously an injury keeping JL from riding "straight up"

About to listen to Pulp, I'll count the amount of times they say "straight up"

Edit -

To their credit all 3 ( Matthes, Weigant, Thomas ) all noted JL being obviously not at 100%.

Chase was awesome fast, cant wait for JL to be 100%, then we have a race !!

What would you call it then?

I'd call it what it was, what we all saw happen. One rider passing another that couldn't properly respond due to injury management.

JL showed he had the ability to pass CS back, but not the usual physical ability to maintain it.

Did we all watch the same race?

We all watched Chase catch and drop both Lawrence brothers like they were standing still. Hunter was suffering the same way Jett was.

Maybe the Lawrence bros are just out of shape? Jett had no problems in Moto 1

Your argument sounds a lot like this "I wasn't at my best when you passed me, so it doesn't count"

I understand what you're trying to say, but on the flip side of the coin we could argue that CS23 wasn't at his best last year and is the sole reason JL18 went 22-0 in 2023... think about it.

It's you cult-like fans who will never admit Jett legitimately lost that are going to make fence sitters turn into Jett haters.  I know you probably have a shrine to the kid in your bedroom, but contrary to your thought process, sometimes even pro athletes have an off day.

That's it exactly.  And its why people take issue with JL's FANS and not Jett himself.  It's like when Stewart would crash and lose a race, and Stew fans would claim "it wasn't straight up, cause Stew crashed".  Its a mind numbing argument.  Some people live through their riders like they are their idols.  I just appreciate the talent, skill, fitness, and lack of fear of these athletes, all of them.

With that logic, did Jett straight up win any races last year?  The defending champ wasn't there and Chase was hurt/coming off injury all year.

.... Yep that's a dumb take.

I heard Jett accidentally used a heavy flow tampon instead of a sport tampon, which caused considerable cramping late in the moto....

Just to dig at the fan bois 😁

They don't pay extra money for "straight up".  Chase did exactly what he needed to do...take every advantage offered.  Jett is hurt...they ALL get hurt.  I'm a Jett fan but it's racing...this is how it goes.

We heard Lars, jet is not 100%, It is what it is, however, Sexton has been going beast mode so it’s going to get really interesting when jet is 100%. I still don’t think Sexton will get him, I see jet doing enough to stay in front When he is 100%.. Just my opinion. You don’t go from 24-0 to one of the most gnarly crashes, and now the competition has suddenly become as fast as you out of nowhere… No.

Who doesn’t love Sexton going balls out, though, it’s sick, It’s like having Eli back

Wtf kind of logic is that? Eli isn't racing...Jett is. Jett lined up this weekend just like Chase. He rode like normal in Moto 1 then got his ass beat in Moto 2

I don't know why you people can't just accept the dude got beat and instead result to nonsensical arguments like this

The day will come where Jett and his main competitor are 100% healthy and he’ll get beaten straight up (*again). I cannot wait to see some of the excuses then! It’s motocross… chances are, most of them have an injury of some sort.

Beast Mode? No, he didn't. But he did beat an older post-injury Eli and that's all that matters because that's who he was racing

Okay I agree. Eli was not 100%. So it’s not a “straight up” win over 100% Eli. Same goes for Chases wins over Jett so far in mx. Jetts not at 100 so it has an * beside it. The first moto it looked like Jett was able to tough it out but he was wreaked after that first moto. And even the broadcast crew could see something was wrong with him from the first lap of moto 2. It’s not dick riding it’s just observation 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. Jett hasn’t beaten 100% Eli, and Chase hasn’t beaten 100% Jett.

Bro Eli was 31 years old coming off a major injury that caused him to miss a ton of time on the bike. Jett is in his prime and didn't miss a single race with his "injury"

Again, he was perfectly fine in Moto 1 and didn't show any signs of being injured. He and his brother hit a wall in Moto 2 around the same time because they straight up do not have the fitness level of Sexton

It was Jett's choice to attempt something and crash. Therefore he is racing this outdoor season with an injury, self induced. So in my opinion, CS beat JL in moto2 at the Wick. There is a good chance JL will not ride to his full potential with this shoulder injury this year. Remember the year ET3 blew out both shoulders and it took a few years to return to Beast Mode Eli? I'm sure looking back, there are many champions that did not have to race a full field of healthy riders but still have those race wins in the record book along with championships. It's the unfortunate part of this sport we enjoy watching and doing at a much slower pace.

how old are some of you … it’s like listening to my 11 year old rationalize things to me. it wasn’t straight up because he was injured? WTF? looked straight up to me, both rode the same track at the same time!
