Yup. Wasn’t there a 15 year old racing 450b a few years back that got DQ’d because he wasn’t 16? But if he was racing 450b on a 250f it would’ve been perfectly fine.

Most amateur races are a Ripoff Joke. Loretta’s is one of the Biggest Ripoff races out there. They charge for everything. What a Fucking joke. Also the chances of getting anything out of it is a joke. I know first hand on this we won a title and was promised a ride and it never happened. We had other opportunities but were strung out so long that the other opportunities were gone. Save your money put in the work and go race another ripoff of a race the nationals. Privateers get Fucked in professional racing only the Factory guys make a real living.

A title and 3 top 5’s in some stacked classes. Damned shame.

You could spend $15,000 to race LL one time, or spend that and race every Canadian national... What's more beneficial in the end?

Lol I'm exaggerating a bit, but factor in the travel, parking passes, wifi,  pit passes, breathing passes etc. etc. I don't understand the appeal of it.

Keefer has talked in detail about the costs at the Area, Region, and Ranch level.  It is not cheap, but it is also the National Championships and it's badass that you have to go through two qualifiers to go and it is actually a championship.  Anyone can sign ups for Daytona/Freestone etc so although they are big races, but it's nowhere near the same.

If it's too expensive, don't go is the simple answer.

It's easy to just say don't go, but when everyone else puts so much emphasis on Loretta's, you kind of have to go if you wanna get on the map (noticed).

LL knows this and just keeps adding to the expense because they know people will pay, because they have to go.

You just described every major destination event, including the Canadian nationals. Travel, registration, transponder, facility/gate, hookup, camping, pit vehicle, etc.  LL's is definitely more expensive, but not by much. I have Mammoth on my bucket list and it will cost me the same or more than LL would cost. Actually I just looked and the registration fee for Mammoth is $200, same as LL's. As long as I make it home safely I expect the expense will be worth it.

The Coombs defiantly have a monopoly going, if they price themselves out of MX racing they get some of it back when those guys quit MX because of the cost and start racing GNCC. I don't support either one, I'd much rather give my money to local off-road series.

Just think of all the money you’re saving by NOT racing something with 4 wheels. Or anything on pavement…

I don’t remember what the exact number was, but I remember going to my first LLAQ around 2018 and my dad paying a few hundred dollars for me to race two classes, I felt absolutely horrible that he was spending that to take me racing. On top of that we always raced the Winter ams, Gold cups, etc and it just kept climbing every year. After that LLAQ we never raced a Gold Cup or Winter Am again. Just stuck to woods racing and saved a lot of money and had a ton more fun.

The money thrown around in Kart racing these days is so fucking ridiculous. That sport is so far gone for the average man.

Just go if you can spring it. My boy chased ll for years. We knew he wasn't gonna make. Went to many regionals knowing that barring a miracle it was just an expensive road trip.

Then my grandson (his nephew) came along and we were chasing it together.  Just the three of us most times. Long road trips lead to lots of talking and bonding (if you can keep them off the damn phone lol).

His last llq race was a mudfest at lazy river (ga) and he tore is ACL.  We would get one more trip together. We went to watch the WW ranch national that year. Grandson got to ride/race the amateur stuff while we cheered and spectated.

July 20th, I got that call no parent wants. My boy had been killed..

I tell you all this just to say that if you can go, then go. Damn the money.  I got 27.5 years with my youngest son and a large percentage of those memories involve rode trips and racing.

About a week after we buried him, with a very heavy heart I drove to Loretta's just to watch.  We never made it there together but damn if we didn't have a lot of fun times trying. I left after a couple days as I was broken and had know idea what I was doing/thinking.

But I do know that you should just go.  The grandson and I are still trying as best we can!!

Sorry for the long post. I guess I'm having emotional times. July 20th marks 5 years.

Good luck at the ranch!!

To race LL in 91 I spent roughly $1000 by the time you add up all the expenses of going to the area, regional and LL.

Airbnb is not a bad idea if it’s close by. How are you holding your pit location? Leaving a trailer there?

Nobody lit anything on fire.  You don't have to go.

Look, if I’m going to willingly spend my money on something that isn’t mandatory even in the slightest bit, I'm going to complain about it.

What does $1200 pay for?

How many classes?

How much for Motorhome/Hook Ups or not, etc…?

Gate and/or parking/vehicle passes?

What are the various fees and entries that are paid?

Whoa you can’t even make that much in 6 weeks straight in trucking anymore. And that’s 1099 no taxes out.  4-5 yrs ago that was the crap check of the yr.  But then again we ran 19- 40+ hrs straight 7 days a week. Always stuck in the ne , it was 39 hrs straight from northern Maine to DC. Brutal no Mx race can compare to the beating out here. I,m 2 1/2 inches shorter the 1st yr driving 4 the 1099 Chicago Russian mod co.s. LTL co.s r dead guys can’t get 20 hrs a week.  What kind of sponsor pays for a LL trip ?  From Ca. You’re lookin at 3k for fuel alone.

It's not, he is just not good enough to make it there so making things up on a forum makes him feel better 🤷‍♂️

When I first started racing Loretta’s it wasn’t near as expensive. I live 40 miles away and could go home at night if I wanted to. You used to go together and get one camping pass, but now you must buy one even if you stay in a motel or go home in my case. I’m too old and slow to go now and I’m not sure I would go if I could qualify. I had one top ten there and got a plaque that I wouldn’t take anything for, but local races gives out better awards.
