Colt Nichols and Beta Racing Part Ways

Makes Triumph look really impressive...

Beta USA (Tim Pilg) is the one who runs/supports the race team here with marginal factory support at best. It really is just a small group of people in Paso Robles trying to take on the giants or our sport. I applaud that and not just because I own a Beta. Smile

I'm glad to see them racing here. I just wish they had more support.

You'd think that drag racing money would be beneficial to actual supercross/mx

I'm far from a marketing guru, but it seems there is a lot of potential crossover business with Drag Racing fans who also ride motorcycles.

I don't see that for a minute. You'd think it'd be more important to market within the audience that may be more apt to buy and possibly be aware of the brand or receptive of them

How so? Their pit presence looked good, bikes looked good, top 10’d some races. Not many first year bikes just jump in and be competitive like that. Yeah triumph also did well but can’t make a direct comparison when the 250 class is so weak and the fields split in half

I was curious about that too. Could also be like avid chimp said, though, with Colt and McElrath switching places.

Was at a holiday party last winter and chatted with mechanic for top enduro rider who has full Beta support. He said they struggle to keep them together (he practised on YZF) unreliable was the jist.

You think McElrath is going to beta?

I said it "could also be like avid chimp said" in his post on page one, because I have no idea.

My guess is we see him on one of the Honda satellite teams next year. He’s definitely not going to Triumph, as their 450 has been delayed.

Per Matthes, Colt is heading to HEP, which is why there's curiosity on whether they're (HEP) adding another bike, or if maybe McElrath & Colt swap teams.

That’s interesting. Everyone I know who has a beta loves their bike. Mostly the 300’s, 350’s and 390’s

Well like Bogle I;m a Colt fan as well. The guy seems cool and has great style.

So I hope the best for him this year and next on the HEP machine.

They should go someone young that will either win it or bin it, Benny's there for consistency every race

People saying adding a third bike, it would be a 4th bike. Kenny chiz mcelrath colt. The latest Suzuki rising vlog said chiz has an option to race or do R & D for 25. If anything I think he’d take chizs spot on the gate

Just watched SML’s breakdown, and Chase said something about a McElrath/Nichols HEP team, so maybe Chiz is done?

I don't think Chiz had a contract for outdoors.

From what I know, it seems chiz is pretty open to be allowed to do what he wants. Race nationals, no problem. Skip them, no problem. SX/WSX I believe are the only thing he has to do. The rest is what he wants. I also believe for 2025 he has the option to either race or be the test guy, but I would say most likely he will race one more year.

it surprises me that, in a motocross forum, local mx fans dont have information about a new brand racing their series and dont understand the struggle it is for a small family business to fight those giants, in the most competitive sx series in the world.....getting top 10s in the first year is a great feature for such a team and a 2nd level rider....i know Colt was 250 champ, but in 450s he never got to perform at the expected level, was it the hrc honda 450 fault that he couldnt put one expected result last year....it surprises me that here it is easyer to bash a new brand over an underperforming rider, maybe this mentality is another reason for not having an usa brand on one of the biggest moto market in the world.....
