Apparently, he either has faded back to the "other" top MXGP riders, or he is still not fully recovered.
I was sure he was going to win moto 2 at Kegums, and I was wrong.
It's not genetic. It's remaining in the moment when things go sideways. You have to still be making great decisions all the way through the crash.

The pack has improved, he's been at it 15 years, his injury list is long and frequently updated.
And still, on top of the box, there he is.

Well, it's admirable and bloody impressive that Brownie still races and, at a Quite high level, but look back to the last time he tried a National. Time , and the Competition, moves on.
There's a World of difference with race levels here that Brownie and Herlings are competing in.
Yes - Herlings is on the downslope of his career, and I doubt that he'll get another World Championship, but, his GP win on the weekend, shows he's still a force to contend with.

You've a real, valid point there - and he had to get through some Horrendous injuries, too, through his racing career.
The Spleen removal was one that was very early in his GP career., and just the start of a nasty list.
Few people seem to know of , or acknowledge his battles with injury. Without those (and his unfortunate involvement with a certain f**kwit manager), he may have had even more than the 10 World Championships.
He won 46 gp when he was in his thirties..........,and also his last race mxdn in england
Guys….. dominating, injurying yourself, rehabbing, dominating again, injuring yourself, rehabbing again, since you were 15 probably takes a lot out of you. I wouldn’t know but it sounds like it might be tough on someone mentally and physically.
I don’t know if he’ll ever build himself back up again but this isn’t an everyone else is better thing.

His last couple of results just shows how long it really takes when you get a few injuries in a row to get back to top shape and speed. It's impressive he still has the desire to go through the whole rebuilding process at this point, but that's probably why he is Jeffrey Herlings. It's a bummer he had that dnf while leading that mud race. He would be second in points and lot closer to Gasjer.
Side note...I like watching mxgp because it's motocross racing, but two rounds in a row on the same track that wouldn't even be considered a nice local track and without even half a gate (there was only 16 riders in the 450 class) is just sad to see. I hope Luongo gets the wake up call when all his top 250s move over to the us, but I doubt he will at this point.
