How does a 10-4 beat a 5-8? This happened for Anderson at Pala as well. AMA shows AP 6th and JA 7th. US Pro Moto and Racer X show JA 6th and AP 7th. Who got 6th?

Each moto scored individually, then added.
These 2 'tied' on points, second moto wins.
Nope.
5-8 = 31 points
10-4 = 30 points

They’re wrong. Ap will beat ando. They’ve forgotten that the point system has changed this year. Points should be ando 10-4=12-18=30 points. So 5-8=17-14=31 points.
on last years system 5th place gives you 16 points instead of 17 so they would’ve tied with ando winning on the better 2nd moto finish.
It is based on points earned.
They both earned 29 points.
10-4 = 11+18
5-8 = 16+13
Tie breaker is better finish in second moto.
Points are from first to 20th
25, 22, 20, 18, 16, for 1st - 5th
After 5th subtract finish from 21 to get points paid,
example 21 - 10th = 11 points
Example 21 - 6th = 15 points
Edit- I stand corrected by keirnan mx,
And racerx

They changed the points this year. They now go 25 22 20 18 17 16 etc
Racer X and US Pro Motocross are still showing Anderson 6th at Pala and Thunder Valley. I’m an Anderson fan so I feel guilty bringing it up. I noticed it at Pala but didn’t make mention of it because I won a bet due to the mistake. 🤫
I wonder if Racer X will go back and correct the error for statistical purposes.
Simple math
5 out of 4 folks are good at it...just not us Moto guys
The scoring system used to be 25, 22, 20, 18, 16, 15, 14 and so on..
then they made it 26, 23, 21, 19, 18, 17, 16 and so on..
and this year it's 25, 22, 20, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14 and so on..
I don't know why they keep changing the points system. It wasn't broken.
Anderson gets extra points for each guy he knocks down.
They made the last change so it would be consistent with Supercross. I totally understand the scoring system. I was just pointing out that US Pro Motocross and Racer X are both showing inaccurate results. They’re using last years points system. Hoping they will update and will show accurate results moving forward.
To be honest the 26 point win thing was kinda weird to me anyways. And I wish 22nd got a single point as well. 21st and 22nd could cross the finish line holding hands and get the same point.
so basically overalls dont matter anymore and ando got a boost for the 4th
Must be the same folks doing the scoring as handing out the penalties.
You would have been correct last year. There is no more “bonus point” for 4th with the restructured points. Racer X and US Pro Motocross are incorrectly scoring races. They are using last years points system.
I just went and looked back at AMA Official Results compared to Racer X and US Pro Motocross for the first 3 rounds in both classes and there are too many errors in 250s and 450s to list them all.
Hopefully US Pro Motocross (who I think just mirrors results from Racer X) corrects their scoring to reflect new scoring system. So janky to have different results listed from the same race. This is one instance where the AMA is actually doing it right.
Other way around actually. RacerX results are copied from AMA website which makes the discrepancy even more bizarre. It’s automatically updated with live timing I believe.
Believe it or not AMA actually has this one right. Racer X and US Pro Motocross are incorrect. They’re using the old scoring system for their results. I’m assuming they’re somewhat tied together through information with MXSports.
I know that overalls don’t really matter as far as championship points go. But if we are going to list results and archive them, they should be accurate.
Thanks James 👍🤣
The points system used to be the same for SX/MX.
Pit Row
Paging DC....
It doesn't and the official results say as much.
I’m looking for some consistency from our top media outlet and the series website. The points paying results should match the official results at the very least. Ideally the results should match from top to bottom.
Imagine if you checked the NBA Finals results and the NBA website showed one score and the ESPN website showed not only a different score but a different outcome.
I just went back and checked and it looks like all of the errors in the results from the first three rounds in 450 and 250 (there were several for each class at each round) have been corrected on the US Pro Motocross site as well as Racer X. Racer X never responded to my emails but they did make the corrections. All is well in the world again!
