his bike sounded tourqey......couldn't hear his shifting points with the shitty music but......track looked shitty too.

Mikey will be there when it counts.

Reed might beat him. Dungey might too. Maybe someone else will too.

But Mikey will be there and everyone on the line and in the stands will be keeping an eye on the # 800

I like Townley, but not expecting much out of him at the start of the season. He's healing from another injury right now. I think Reed, Alessi, and RD will be front runners. Maybe Townley half way into the series. Lights out if RV heals like wolverine......

Chris O'Neal, the track looks like it was really slippery and choppy. It isn't like Mike Alessi doesnt know how to go fast, why risk charging into a sketchy corner on a practice day and possibly washing out and stepping down on your knee and blowing it out.

Mike looks fine, stop bickering back and forth before this turns into a 3 page thread on body positioning coming into corners.
Yeah whatever you say man.

It wasn't to bicker back and forth.

He's flying no doubt about it. Just noticed that and mentioned it. Geezzzz your not going to sue me are you?

Most of the video was pretty good, but I don't get it when they speed up the corners. I saw at least 3 shots where they sped it up - who do they think they're fooling - definately not any of his competitors.
Yep, maybe someone just wants people to think they are fast in the corners Smile

I just think they werent putting in hot laps. Track is beat up and that might have been thier first time out to get warmed up.

I agree that not racing SX is gonna hurt them. They will need a race or 2 to get accustomed to the pace.

Anyone else thinks he kinda looks like shit on the bike? He was on it pretty good with that RMZ. His corners don't seem to flow as well. Could have been the track as well. Reed and him both looked better on RMZ's!

Mike is there laying waste to that track while still recovering from injury while testing a new bike and you say he looks like shit. You sure are an expert. Just another guy who's "fast on the forum"
He is STILL coming back from injury? Didnt he get hurt quite some time ago? Man for a kid that came back from a broken knee cap in 2 weeks he sure is taking a looong time to heal up now.

anyone know what rider used to own that thing?

I don't know if Mike is 100% healed up, but he is pretty darn close (from the last conversation I had with Tony).

While not racing for a long time is not good for any racer, the Alessi's come pretty close to creating a racing like atmosphere at their facilities. Josh Hill mentioned that on his DMXS interview earlier this year. Part of their program is gating up in a group for 30min + 2 laps of racing. During SX season they do the same with running 20 lap races on the SX tracks. So while it's not really the same as racing, at least they are doing something close to real racing in their training program. This should help Mike be a bit less rusty.

Mike won nationals last year on a darn fine yellow bike. I think the fact that he will be racing on a really new orange bike will be a bigger challenge to his speed than not having raced the SX season. But thats just my $.03,

The question is who were they lining up against at the house? Just curious.

I heard KTM was pissed because Tony was trying to get those 350's over to Varner to tear them down and see what was in them.

A variety of riders train at the Alessi facilities year round, and several pro's drop by and practice there as they move from one side of the country to the other during the racing season. Josh Hill mentioned how they do a good job at recreating a SX/MX race be he rides with them from time to time and practices there (before his L&M days).

Reed, Dungey, Hill, Lawrence (just to name a few) and several other top pro's have ridden at their tracks (mostly at the CA and FLA tracks) in the last couple of years. The Alessi's are one of the few private track owners that have an open door for professional riders. They allow them to practice at their facilities free of charge. I think they are the only private facilities owned by a professional recer that do this.

You pro's please correct me here if I am wrong.

While I have no idea if this is true or not, what do you really think Tony has to gain from doing that? He has seen these bikes torn down to the frame and bolts and has seen the inside of the facility that machines the parts. What else exactly is left to see?

Granted they have their own race shop in CA with onsite suspension and engine builders that I guess could learn from these factory secrets, but if you are not working on race prepping 350's, then what would that kind of knowledge do for you?

You don't know anything about racing or Factory bikes, I wouldn't expect you to get it.

You just maybe right on there.

I guess there maybe more to seeing how the sum of all the parts add up than what I know.

Why would I do that ? I don't give a shit about Tony and I think it's dumb a pod cast was wasted on the Parent of a racer.

Who the hell else does that ?

I thought the podcast was for you and Bobby? For someone who asks questions about the Alessi's and constantly draggs them through the mud, I would think you would be first in line to call in.

I also thought I heard Tony say that Varner was doing the motors for Nicoletti...did I hear that wrong?

lmao...wasddup holmes.

the simple fact that a podcast was done on the dad of a racer that nobody has seen race in a while pretty much sums it up doesn't? i would have loved to hear what mike was up to and how he is doing from mike himself.

when was the last time a racers dad was the center of attention and not the rider himself? kinda baffles ya a bit no? kinda weird it seems to me.

whatever though and i still will be cheering for mike and jeff alessi.

I hear you guys on the whole Tony Alessi thing but you have to agree that Tony/Mike create a firestorm on the internet whenever they are mentioned. Matthes knew he would get listeners and he did, it was his best show to date.

I'm not going to argue with you guys over this but 500guy's statement had me scratching my head. Maybe I missed some sarcasm???

I can't wait to see how Alessi and the 350 do this summer as well. I think top 3 overall is in the cards but I'm also sure it won't be without drama.

Did I hear wrong on the Varner/Nicoletti deal?
