Tony Alessi would make a great politician, they way he was able to spin the facts into creditable answers. He turned the whole Mantova International incident where KTM allegedly took the bike off them for bad mouthing the 350cc into Pit Bierer agreed they should park the bike as Mikey's shoulder wasn't up to it.
He dismissed Roger DeCoster's comments that Team Alessi wouldn't listen to anyone by concentrating on the Las Vegas SX whereby they were asked to help Chad Reed to beat Stewart.
Funny how KTM won't allow the Alessi's to keep a factory bike between practice sessions
and how he reckoned they were only hammimng it up, acting for the camera's in "Inside the Outdoors" TV series!

I think it's awesome that none of the board shit talkers called in. IMO it's because it's obvious to anybody that was listening that Tony is all about one thing. Racing dirt bikes and making everyone (not just his kids) around him better at racing dirt bikes. If they called in and talked shit they would of been made to look like the fools they are.

Thanks for another great show Matthes and Watson.

why does tony tell all this about mike after the fact while all the while nothing was mentioned? just curious...contract reasons, top secret injury list...what?

being straighforward and forthcoming is always better in the long and short run isn't it?

that isn't true rob, ktm well leave a bike there but only when the scooter is chaperoned by a ktm employee. crazy shit eh? he had varner take the entire motor apart and spec it according to KTM.

I can't believe Roger D told Mike not to win any supercrosses. I cant remember how many times last year he was clearly faster than Stewart and Reed and had to pull over to let them by. Wonder if he could have won the championship last year if he didnt have to listen to Roger?

Wow ...do you really believe MA could of won the SX championship?? lol I agree it's BS to tell a rider not to beat the other rider in Sx the movie style but MA wasn't close to championship speed last year. He came into the season way out of shape due to that sick crash in the outdoors and was barely top 10 early in the sx season. He was faster(lap time wise) then JS and CR at one track last year and that was Seattle where Mike crashed and JS caught and passed him after he crashed. Mike did put in the fastest lap of the night though in the main. Even faster then RV who won the race. But MA didn't let CR catch him. I guess that may have pissed off Roger if what Tony says is true.

Well keep in mind that they introed him with a "play nice" warning about calling in. I'm sure Tony Alessi detractors didn't exactly have nice things to say or question about. People were probably respecting the show as per Matthes and Watson's instruction. What I didn't understand was that despite the preceding advisory, they blasted the critics for not calling. If they lead in saying, you don't have to like him but respect him, and someone doesn't respect him, why would they bother?

You can not respect someone yet ask a question in a civil manner, we just didn't want anyone calling up and just blasting him nonsensically. But hard questions were welcome for sure.

Folks, if you still have questions you want answered, just pass them on to Matthes, he has Tony's cell number now. Maybe Matthes can provide some sort of post show recap Q&A for you enquiring minds that did not have the stones to tell Tony in person.

I just want to add one comment regarding the Suzuki Team orders that the Alessi's were not happy with....Yes it may seem like once in a while you may need to take one for the team and help out your teammate if he is in the running for the championship. But the way these rider's contracts are structured now, you only get bonus money (which is usually pretty significant compared to the racer's salary) when you get on the podium. So asking one rider to help out another is ok and all that, unless it could potentially cost him money. I seem to remember Bob Hanna having issues with similar "team orders" as well. This is nothing new.

And for the record, when Tony was interviewed by DMXS and asked about Roger D and Team Suzuki, he graciously declined to comment and said he would rather talk about the future. Then when Roger D was subsequently interviewed, he took the opportunity to throw trhe Alessi's under the factory rig. So I thought it was ok that Tony tooka small jab at Roger D, he kind of owed him one.

Great show Matthes, I look forward to your next one!

My bad txrider. I didn't catch the sarcasm in your post. I don't know you well enough and due to some of the moronic posts on here I thought maybe you were serious about Mike being a serious sx contender in 09.. I retract my earlier response to your post..lol...

Unfortunately, they had that conversation offline I think. They did talk about it, but Tony did not get on Matthes from running that story.

To Matthes defense, based on what I know, he got that rumor from what would seem to be a pretty solid source.

Nobody really expects Tony to tell on himself do they ?

Why doesn't Mike ever get an interview with no chaperon ?

The show was good, Mathes did a good job on asking some hard questions, even Berlutti asked some good questions and called Tony out on a few things

Its a shame the critics where to scared to call in, Tony had some freinds call in that had his back who actually know him, not just pretend to.

I just think it's weak to make it your agenda on a message board to ruin somebody and then when you have an opportunity to call in and let that person respond to all your criticism, nowhere to be found.

rance...man you have got it goin on brother. lmao!!!~

some people answer questions straight forward, as an accountant/broker/whatever for people and otherwise i hope to fuck you are one of em. roger decoster answered a question straightforward. big fucking deal.

talk about stones to talk to a person...where were you att he phx sx? Smile

and i will see tony at a race near me and if he wants to dispute what team honda and team suzuki and team ktm and him taking apart the ktm and the suzuki shocks to have varner/other mechanics look at em he knows what i look like too....hahahaha. if he has the "stones"....lmao rance. you crack me up

after all is said and done mike will never ever win a title if he doesn't have FUN racing(i hope to hell i am wrong on that but i doubt it) ...and living..breathing...enduring "tony alessi's bootcamp 24/7 will not allow any fun factor for that to be even remotely possible.

the human mind...the human spirit can only endure so much....for fucks sakes go read dungeys interview on racerx rance.

hope to see you at the races someday and we can talk and bs in person.
