Nothing, but Nothing, could get me to donate to a Politician - of any 'Brand'.

I've known 3 people - quite closely, that have gone into high level Politics.

All getting to State level.

2 were friends,  one I dueled with in our High School years in Debating right up to National level - she could debate on matters with 'equivalency' no matter her feelings - my failing was I could not do so as well. She did her stint in our States Parliament, and got eaten alive by career politicians , some of which ended up in jail. We disagree on a fair few points, but, I wish she had kept at it - she's a  brilliant, fair minded person, with care and interest in others, not just herself.

One other, a bit of a time server, with plenty of money behind her - seems the near perfect description for a politician -'plenty of money behind him or her'-  but, she's neither here nor there, in my mind. Meh.

One a complete F**wit, that from the word go, was just entirely interested in himself, and Only himself - the p**k is still in NSW Parliament, involved in a money making section of legislation that is a just a leaching on society. The bloke's the most 'bent' individual I have ever met. And, he is in a party that I am (slightly) more attuned to.

A few years ago, I joined the three main parties. Something each of them would not be happy with, but hey, they took my dues - the only money I've ever put into political parties. It was / is useful to get a bit of 'behind the scenes' info, and not just rely on the press, in all it's various permutations.

But donate to any politician, especially a "Billionaire", of Any political 'leaning' ?- No Bloody Way.

100%. No matter which side you give your money to. It's right up there with throwing your hard earned money at those big mega church mega buck preacher dudes. Which DT is right up there with. On another level even.

But - it is your money. How you want to waste it is totally up to you - that's freedom.

 throwing your hard earned money

To be fare, I used my Easy earned money,

You know? the type of money Biden uses?

Times have changed since the Revolution from Britain but what remains the same is the Belief in the Constitution.

As a American veteran, I can tell you that your rights to freedom are going down left and right.

If you stand with the current  administration ok. At least we as Patriots know what you want for your Family.

Communism. Because you cannot work for your Money.

Karl Marks is proud of you

So the “impeachment” of Biden that’s been ongoing for 16+ months keeps getting derailed because all the star witnesses keep turning out to be Russian plants? I think you’re confused who is supporting the commies…

The people that bitch so much about how bad the economy is are the first to throw their hard-earned cash at the feet of a self-proclaimed billionaire.

Makes about as much sense as the 'Law &Order / Family Values' party supporting a convicted felon who has been married 3 times and cheated on every wife he's had including banging a porn actress and a Playboy model.

How many other “great business men” do you donate hard earned money to? It’s crazy to me that you don’t see how sad this is and I mean that sincerely.

I'm really not one to tell other people how to spend their money, but it's almost insultingly stupid to not only donate to a billionaire politician but openly brag about doing so like it's some kind of act of nobility.  With how many everyday people are struggling right now and all of the horrible things happening around the world it's almost unfathomable to me that anyone thinks this is an effective use of donated funds.  Here's a few ideas that might make for a better investment in humanity:

1. Various charities that support our veterans, especially those who are disabled

2. SPCA, or your local animal shelter

3. School supplies for kids in your local district

Those are just a few ideas.  Regardless of anyone's feelings about Trump, donating money to any millionaire/billionaire politician is an absolute fools errand, it absolutely blows my mind that some people are so brainwashed on either side that they think this is a good idea.

If I donate to a politician. It's not that I want him or her to keep the money and get richer. I look to see who's vision is most in alignment with mine for where we should go.

Who is the best steward of the economy,

Who will hold the line better for personal freedoms

Who will do the best job on ILLEGAL immigration

Who is most likely to reduce the number of wars going on in the world

Who is most likely to keep China in check

It's a long list folks!

And if there is a candidate that I believe will do good in those areas, (and more) I might choose to donate money because I cannot donate my time to help get them elected.

We all see the results of putting people in place because they check certain boxes vs actually being the best for that job. Is that what we really want to focus on? Most people in the united states are pretty damn tolerant. If you're the best person for the job, you'll probably get it. Our country is getting so upside down it's actually kind of hard to live in it. People are so quick to persecute you for a slip of the tongue. You say something that was perfectly acceptable 5 years ago and now it might mean the end of ones career. We are literally teaching future generations to twist words into insults to claim they are victims of something.

I think if everyone made a list of things important to them and said which side will be most in alignment with what's important, we'd have a lot less fighting than what's going on right now. Right now we can't get past fighting about specific people, and what's more important is policy. People will come and go but policy is what affects us.

So individual citizens shouldn't make donations to political causes, and should just leave that funding up to the corporations, PACs and big money donors? Apparently a large part of the recent Trump funding was from small dollar donors.

Is it possible that putting money towards the future of our government is a humane thing to do? I suppose it is only if the liberals say so, right? What if the spending on Trump leads to a change in government that makes it more cost effective, thus reducing taxes and putting more money in most every citizens pockets, so they can then make more donations to causes they deem worthy?

It's funny to me that everyone is assuming I'm some kind of liberal, I don't think that's something anyone in real life would accuse me of.  Libertarian maybe, but Liberal absolutely not.

Think this through for a second.  Donald Trump is worth about $7.5 Billion (via a quick google search), do you really think he needs ordinary individuals donating to his cause?  Do you really think any of these politicians worth hundreds of millions of dollars really need some random joe blow off the street donating money to them?  They have plenty of money to throw around towards their cause, assuming they actually believe in it of course.  It's insane, and the hard truth is none of us are making a difference with our money when everything is funded by PACs and mega donors like you said.  The only way ordinary individuals like us are going to enact any change is to live according to our values and sharing a message we believe in.  I like how Andy Frisella explains it, that personal excellence is our ultimate rebellion.  We need to hold ourselves as individuals to a higher standard, be the best and most successful people we can be, and enact change through example not by virtue signaling and throwing meaningless amounts of money into a bottomless pit.

I guess you missed the point that the recent surge in Trump funding is small money donors. Seems to me that's folks using their voice to make a statement about the current government.

So you would prefer Trump fund it either wholly by himself, or by corporations, PACs and big money donors, and then only act in their interests?

Being the best you is a great philosophy, but it is not a form of rebellion. Rebellion is just another buzzword most folks think they understand, but we have something of a rebellion going on right now and folks can't even see it. I guess it got you to buy his book though.

And yes, criticizing how someone else spends their own money is a liberal act. That's why they like higher taxes and bigger government. They can enforce their moralities and leave us with less and less of our own money to do what we see fit.

I'm sorry, you're never going to convince me that a heartfelt donation of what amounts to essentially nothing to a billionaire is somehow making a statement or raising your voice.  And yes, I would 100% prefer if Trump funded it entirely himself because he has the means to and he's the one running!  If he's adamant that he is the only thing standing between the American people and absolute tyranny (I'm not here to argue whether or not that's true, that's an entirely different debate to be had) then no price should be too much to pay to ensure he has the best chance at winning.

And no, criticizing how someone spends their money is absolutely not a Liberal act, silencing all criticism is a token practice of the new left which is what you're advocating for.  People have the freedom to speak with their money, as I have the freedom to speak critically of those choices if they're made public.  The rebellion is and should be about personal freedom, I'm not advocating for taking away anyone's rights to donate to whatever cause they see fit, nor should you be advocating for taking away my right to criticize it.

At no point did I advocate for taking away any of your rights. That's a liberal's job. I pointed out that your behavior is one which is typical of a liberal in this day and age. You're not being critical. You're acting as if you have a pseudo-morally superior position.

Trump Reportedly Raises $200+ Million Since Verdict

Eric Trump was asked by Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” about how much money the former president has raised since last Thursday’s verdict.

“This might be a little inside information, but as I was leaving my house about 37 seconds ago, I asked my wife, what are we up to now?” he said. “And [Lara] said, just in terms of small dollar, we’re well over $70 million. This is $21 donations, $43 donations, right, small dollar donations.”

“If you add the large dollar donations to it, you’re over $200 million,” he continued.

Great, maybe now he can pay back all the local municipalities his campaign fucked over by not paying for services provided for his rallies.
