How many times does it need to be said the owner of Glen Helen is the problem. Davey Combs never want to take the track off the series but greed with the promoter played a role. The race got brought back for a few years with mediation with Tom White, Mitch Payton and a few other industry heavy hitters I believe and worked ok while Tom was still alive. From what I remember the last time they ran a national there the owner decided to sell tickets at an exuberant price that made the riders come through a new area as soon as they finished the moto's and interact with the fans. It interfered with the tight tv schedule which we're lucky to even have and the riders went straight to the podium for obvious reasons and because of that the owners of Glen Helen threw a fit. They then wouldn't renew the contract unless Davey bent his knee and let them do whatever they wanted because they felt they were bigger than the Pro Motocross Series. I don't think there's anyone that doesn't want to see this race happen again (including Davey)but until the owner deflates his ego and realizes he's not the center of U.S. motocross it won't happen.

Bud is as far out there as anyone but to say it’s all on one side is a bit much, would say 60/40 of maybe 70/30 Glen Helen fault

I don’t understand this worship of DC. Not all the blame can be placed on GH.

I heard they had flaggers that actually know how to wave a flag. That alone should get them on the schedule

Simple solution is to move the 2nd California National to Austin so all the transplants will be able to attend.  There would be at least as many Californians at a Texas race as there are today at Fox.Tongue

Interesting, never heard that. Glen Helen is the center of motocross though. Imagine being a euro and come if over here to race and you get Pala instead of Glen Helen. Pretty lame in comparison right? I mean Pala is a sick track don’t get me wrong but it doesn’t showcase the real roots of motocross type track we all want to see after supercross here in the US.

I’ve mentioned this before, but Bud Feldkamp has always been a bit out there and somewhat difficult to negotiate with, but after the tragedy his family experienced years ago, his GAF level has to be at a zero….and I don’t blame him a bit.

The man doesn’t need the money, has experienced a life event no one should have to go through, and is getting up there in age. I can imagine it would be negotiating with a stone wall.

(to be clear the above opinion is just that. An opinion.)

Setting the obvious history aside, anyone who’s rode both, knows GH is light years better than Pala just as a track. Better spectating, better dirt, better start.

Yeah, and a lot of people lit Bud up online because of some of his business, which was absolutely terrible and totally out of line.

Whatever the pissing contest is between Bud and Mx Sports, it sucks for us fans, but Bud loves his track and we locals get to benefit from that by way of a great place to ride.

I have often wondered if hosting a National is worth it for the tracks.

Unadilla has hosted a national for now 55 years in a row. I’m sure it’s a net positive for these guys. The track owners make money by ticket entries and typically the pro weekend is their most successful weekend. The only track I remember that didn’t succeed was WW Ranch because Florida has always had a hard time pulling a crowd outside of the Daytona SX.

Hoping to make it to the World Vet in the next couple years. Can’t wait to ride there.

From what I understand, if you got all the gate money, had 25,000 spectators at $40.00/ticket, you would be out money due to the AMA licensing fee.

The flaggers were mostly made up of the REM crew who are all veteran motocrossers and knew what they were doing!

If it wasn't a good business decision, all the tracks we have every year would not participate.  Why would Red Bud, Millville, Freestone, Pala, Washougal, Unadilla, Budds Creek etc continue to host the event if they lost money?

So I go to look this shirt up to find out that Glen Helen actually sold these. I found it weird considering they haven’t wanted to host a national (or at least that’s what we’ve been led to believe).

I dug a bit deeper and saw this in the comments. I guess they do want to host a national..? 🤔

I’m more confused about this disagreement than ever now 😂

Didn’t know Bud is also a dentist. What an unbelievably tragic thing to happen. I can’t imagine receiving that phone call.
