No other sport includes qualifying as part of the show you pay for, even MX. They should bump practice and heat races to Friday, and allow anyone who has purchased a ticket to go watch. On Saturday, run two 30 minute motos for each class.
I'm not top 450 SX pro, but I can testify to the fatigue factor being much different in SX than outdoors... but not so much the physical fatigue, it's the mental side.

One small mental miscalculation on a SX track ends really badly, and being that precise for even 20 laps is pretty crazy.

I think you haven't been to a lot of other sports.

"Even MX". Are you serious? The whole day includes qualifiers. You pay for one ticket, you see it all.

Sorry.. this pegs out the stupid meter.

Sorry, I should have clarified—I meant to say in the TV broadcast. In MX, there is over an hour of points-awarding racing for each class. In SX, there is 20 minutes. That is shorter than anything else besides arenacross.

Besides, what I'm suggesting would still be pay for one ticket and see it all. You would just go on Friday to see the qualifiers instead of seeing it packaged along with the main event.
Thanks for clarifying.

I like the 20min+2 idea though.

I like 22 riders on the gate and only give the top 20 points, instead of everyone getting points. Take 4 from the LCQ to get the 22.

I like adding in the next timed qualifier in place of an rider that can't make the show, like Stroupe this weekend. Someone could of taken his position. Same with the main, if you can't make the main for whatever reason, put the next guy from the LCQ in it.

Don't like the 2 day deal for SX. Wish it was so for the MX Nationals, but that's gone too.

More racing, not less.

We need better racing, not longer racing.

My value for the dollar? Sitting in the middle area of the stands at the Metrodome in early afternoon and having Roger Decoster sit about 5 seats away, Jeff Stanton two rows down and about a half dozen other people (whose faces I remember from the magazines - but honestly after Decoster and Stanton arived I wouldn't have noticed much of anything else), who were important race team mucky-mucks. They were all watching different riders in practice and by chance I ended up sitting in the middle of all of them.

Oh yea, there was a race that night too. Jeremy won (again). And that night the stands were populated with a lot of beer-drunk Minnesota idiots who were probably mad because those little Jap bikes were there instead of the Monster Trucks.

I think they may have also been mad because they felt they didn't get their value for the dollar.

I'm also sure the MX people from the fine state of Minnesota were having the time of their lives watching a great event!
A guy from Wisconsin complaining about beer drunk Minnesotans! Only on vitalmx.com.

For those of you not familiar with Wisconsin, that's like someone from Louisana complaining about swamps, or someone from Mississippi complaining about poverty.

And, judging from the populartiy of quad racing over on your side of the St. Croix/Mississippi vs. our side, I'd say that the only people that were disappointed by the lack of monster trucks had just spent some time headed west on I94...

Just mad about Farve?

Woohoo

Why yes, we are still ticked about "Grandpa Favre" if you must know......Wink

My point was hitting the SX at the Metrodome was always something special - the only blemish was the stupid drunk morons who had ZERO idea what was going on and knew less about the riders. There were several in rows 13 & 14 spilling beer on those of us in row 12. Happens on a regular basis. As our crew was from Wisconsin, a few drunk people in the stands ain't no big deal.........in a way I suppose it was just MN way of making us feel at home.

Minnesota has some of the best MX people/riders/fans in the country. Take that to the bank.

Getting back to the topic - I've had a blast every SX or MX National I've been to. I don't see a problem with "value for the dollar" (however the monster truck crowd might). The only changes I would see being needed would be improving the racing - not the fan experience.

Agreed, just having some fun with you. I miss the SX in the dome. Maybe they'll get desparate now with no baseball and get an SX back? I can see how it would suck for the teams, though. The "pit scene" left a bit to be desired.

Back to the original post - ummm, no. Less racing is not the cure.

The only way to fix supercross is to integrate steel ramps into the track. When a rider goes over the ramp they have to bust out a sweet trick otherwise they receive a DNF.

Now that supercross has been saved what else would you fellas like me to work on around here?

Make the series shorter so riders aren't too exhausted to do any other racing. I would rather see some of the riders racing against some of the Euros once in a while. After about 10 - 12 SX races, I'm over it.

When you get lapped, you have to leave the track. Of course that would mean that some of the riders only get 8 laps in.
