Silly season is here and contract talks are starting. What do riders get paid for these contracts? I'm just trying to get an understanding of the income main event riders pull in for there efforts. I'm not talking Jett and the handful of the top earners but the bulk of the field. For instance guys like Nicolette, DiFrancesco, Miller, Smith, Wilson, Nichols, Friese. Looking at it as a job standpoint risk, reward, time and the large cost to participate in the sport. I just have no ballpark idea of what these guys bring in Gross/Net. I'm not looking for an exact amount by any means but a rough idea, ballpark. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

it's all performanced based & mostly paid by the energy drink company's

Generally the mothership pays the salary. Kawasaki pays the PC team, rather than mitch.
Its not all performance based either.
That’s wrong on both accounts. Although the energy drinks do pay well.
To answer OP it’s is nearly impossible. Some guys pay for rides and Jett makes millions and then everything in between. Literally.
I know two pros personally. One is a guy who was racing for a team that is now folded but he was expenses plus 40k for the year. The other pro I know is currently racing and is paying to be on the team.

Jesus.... Both of those are awful.
Ehh PC/Kawi relationship is a bit more unique on that one.
Example, Star 250 pays the riders but negotiates support from Yamaha that is paid to the team (financial, parts, bikes, etc)
Geico also negotiated support from Honda, then paid out to riders as they saw fit or needed to get their deals done.
BarX and HEP with Suzuki are same.
So when these guys file taxes, what numbers are we seeing. 85k-150k gross? Greatly appreciate everyone’s input. Thank you for sharing!
Wilson said in his Gypsy tales podcast he’s still find a way to make himself 500k a year. He’s a like able character, and marketing would be great for him so he’s still making good money so I wouldn’t be surprised if he pushed close to a million last year with the Aus sx champ, bonus for that and the wsx bonus Wilson has gone the Brayton route as we know he was loving being in Aus and making good money doing it. Deano has always been on good money, even when he was struggling those years massively with injury his marketing value helped him a lot to still make $$. He also stated in that interview he’s been smart with his money and he’s good come retirement doesn’t need to be going to throw kitchens in with his old man. I’m guessing the rest of those guys are anywhere between 100-350k
Gross & net that’s a big difference. I would buy land to off set the taxes. And say it’s for training. On gross it’s 32% on 191,951 - 243,725. 37 % on 609,350 & up. Ss is not 7.5% like a w2 job. You pay 7.5 x2 -15 %. State income varies by st a handful doesn’t hv it like Florida. Local racers or the best 1 used to gross 4,800 a week in Wi. The only taxes they paid were on contingencies - money from Suzuki. They paid the best. A smart rider is probably 22% fed 47,151- 100,525. That’s fed 24 tax brackets.
Kawasaki doesn’t necessarily pay their contracts. They do pay for guys theh want on the team, like Forkner or Ciancirillo, but someone like Mcadoo is payed out of the support budget.
you guy's need to check the real facts there would be no racing as we know it without the monster & red bull
Sorry guys but this is real
It would be a major hit but we had racing before and we would have racing after.
Is this Jake? In not, I know by name a location that you are kin folk. “Big Toe” says hello.
most riders are 1099 so their pay isn’t actually their pay taxes and all have to be considered
Energy drinks pay good money but it’s not the bulk of their salary
That's what a few guys let on to on Whiskey
Just know a 10th place west coast 250 guy makes more than a 12th 450 guy
