There was a time when we would ALWAYS plan to make the last round of the SX season! Couple of the moto-pals and all our wives would make the annual trip out because VEGAS felt like a big deal, and it was always a blast for the whole group! Me & my buddies would go ride mtb’s out by the lake, or Bungee jump, skydive or some other hairball deal each year and the girls loved catching the shows or a little gambling capped off with a fun SX finale! 
Now Salt Lake City…Really??! 
The days of making the annual SX finale a regular weekend away are OVER!

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t salt lake paying for it to be there as part of their push to get the Winter Olympics to return? 

You guys can thank the “dirt prudes” that don’t want to put dirt in their beloved new stadium. Hopefully the SMX finals paved the way for SX to start coming back. They could build at the speedway

The finale belongs in Vegas.

i'm hoping that new A's Stadium that is replacing the Tropicana Hotel will be a future venue. Right on the strip, would make the Finale even better than good ol Sam Boyd Stadium

i went to the Vegas finale probably 10 years in a row and i can legit remember maybe 3 of the races. something about that town turns pretty much everyone visiting into a full fucking alcohol and drug binge retard.

i also went to almost every US Open and a few Monster Cups.  Vegas is a blast and the feel at the races are a blast. but if they don't want the race back then fuck-em, UT will take it.

but for nostalgia sakes, give me strippers, hookers, a week long hangover and a baffling credit card statement

It'd have to be really early in the SX season, because baseball kicks off in April.

I think it would be tough with it being baseball season when the finale comes around. Too busy of a schedule.

I've been to Salt Lake and it is fun but definitely NOT a party town. The city basically shuts down hours before like every other city. 

Thats awesome Peelout! You and I were at all the same races! I lost count of how many SX finales I made over the years!? SO many fun trips out to Sam Boyd stadium! And I did the same thing, making ALL the US Opens, and a Monster Cup or two also!

BUT I am pretty sure you partied WAY harder than we did!!? 🤪 We thought our idea of “wild & crazy” was renting MTB’s for a half day guided ride out by Lake Powell, or maybe a Saturday morning Sky Dive before the race that evening! I guess we were doing Vegas “wrong”!!? Hahaha 😎 👍❗️

I take offense to that as a mormon. We have some wild root beer parties and know how to have a good time. All fun aside I also enjoyed the race in Vegas but remember it was Vegas that gave the race away when they would not allow it in the new stadium.  Utah has invested a ton of money into the sport and stepped up. I would also love to see the finale go back to Vegas somehow and go back to Utah being a standard race and not the finals.  Still I am heading to salt lake Saturday and can't wait to watch the race.

 Vegas was the absolute best!  The last race always used to be the first Saturday of May.  The Kentucky Derby, always a big boxing match, SX, and the pools just opened up for the summer. The MGM was the place to be. Sunday at the pool it seemed like more then half the riders and teams would be there letting loose after a long season. Cheap flights, cheap rooms, and expensive drinks. It was the best!  

The SMX finale in Vegas is going to be fucking nuts.

SMX will be in Vegas. They will push SMX to be the major championship. And having a final at Vegas for SMX will give that feeling. (So they hope) 

Yeah it’s lame big time. It’s feels like the middle of summer from the se to Tx. 83-93 with upto 83% dew point & humidity. Bring on the Nationals. And short shorts & tube tops. 

Where the bed jumpers at?

for those that don’t know the speedway for SMX is about 20miles from the strip north on the 15 past Nellis AFB and it is a daily shit show on the 15 with how they rebuilt it! It is surrounded by new warehouses and huge amazon distribution centers with so many semi trucks going in and out of there the traffic is insane! Also Vegas has nothing to do with what happened with the Raiders stadium not allowing the dirt in it that’s all on the Raiders, all of the advertising for the new stadium included SX finales and MEC in it and the Raiders pulled the ole bait and switch once the deal was signed… really effing lame if ask me. The team and fans that go to the stadium now are worse than any dirt they will bring in! 😂

Where are they suppose to have the finale in Vegas there literally isn't an available venue. The speedway is basically on the outskirts of everything and no way in hell the Raiders are going to put supercross in that new stadium. 

Cant say I blame them they probably make 20X what they'd make in a SX event at every home game, plus all the concerts and events they can have there and make money without having to put dirt and exhaust fumes in their 2 billion dollar stadium. 

It really do be like that sometimes.

I have some good friends who are Mormons. Love you guys. 

One day we're going to get together and party it up - drink a lot of milk and raise heck!
