I don't know why people think RD isn't quite as fast outdoors. He's not RV's speed, but really close. When I watched the laptimes on live @ the wire last year, RD and Pourcel's laptimes were right up there with the 450 class riders. Dungey is solid on that zook 450. But, I repeat, he is not on RV's pace. RV is just the shit, love the way he rides and love how he stays down to earth. You wouldn't think he was even a profesional athlete the way he acts. He isn't the type that would want a reality tv show! lol

Allesi isn't my favorite, mainly because of his dad, but he is a beast outdoors. I think he can run with Reed. Top 3 on a normal basis will be RV, RD, and Stewart if he is there. I don't see Stewart winning the championship though. I know he went 24-0 the last time he raced, but this year he has guys that can run his pace or come close to it alteast. When Stewart has someone pushing him seems like he tends to crash. I hope to see atleast one moto with those 3 up front to see how it pans out. I still think RV can hang it out more, kinda like RC did. I personaly can't wait until the outdoors. Both classes should be great, but now the 450 class really is the premier class like it should be.

Dungey's strength is Supercross. He is a good outdoor rider but if he was on that level he would have walked with that championship last year like everyone with a computer was saying he would.

I say Josh Grant comes out swingin and and suprises everyone.. I dont doubt RV or RD at all.. But not much talk about JG.. He won motos last year until he got hurt. If he can stay healthy he will be a contender.

Nobody is saying that he was. In fact he was faster and that's the point.

No. My point is that you can have success if you heal up correctly and do a good job of preparing for the series. Grant and JGR are probably doing that. The other person you mentioned? Who knows.

Good evening folks,

Sorry I am late to the party. I caught up with Tony this morning when I was on my way out to ride this morning. I just got back to the house. I went straight from the track (Highlands MX) to the Honda of Houston SX Autograph signing party and just got home.

The Alessi's will be at Glen Helen tomorrow, on KTM's, and a hand ful of factory KTM folks have flown and will be there as well. So if you want to see what is going on with Mike's contract with KTM, Tony said to stop by and ask.

There is no deal with Yamaha or MotoConcepts. Mike is under a contract with KTM. Keep in mind Jeff Alessi rides for MotoConcepts, so the two camps are pretty close. And a lot of the Alessi Racing Training Facility clients ride Yamaha's, so its not unusual to see them on their tracks often.

Tony said to drop by their pits, near the starting gates, and he will have a hat, and T-shirt for you and you can ask him anything you want to about what bikes they ride. But it will be kind of obvious once you see the huge orange set up.

You won't see Jeff Alessi on a MotoConcepts 450 this summer. They are moving Sipes up to the 450 to take Reardon's spot next to Goerke. As of right now I don't think Jeff has a ride this summer, and the Yamaha 450 he is riding is one they bought.

Didn't GuyB say that Jeff would be on a KTM, just not on the factory team? I can't keep track anymore.

I agree with BobbyM this time, haha. Masonry you are forgetting that both James and RC proved themselves many times before they came back from injury to dominate, Grant has only won races not titles, you are also forgetting that you can prepare all you want but sometimes nothing beats racing for preparation as long as you stay healthy doing it!

Whats surprising is that Mike Alessi still has fans after the kill-switch dealio at Glen Helen.

How a pro athlete, especially one in the small world of mx, could live that down is beyond me.

And about him being faster than Chad indoors....lmao.

Pourcel is one of the greats though. No shame in getting beat by that guy. He had the rest of the field covered.

This has little to do with bike brand and everything to do with an overbearing parent who lives vicariously (and financially) through his kid. The kid is now a man and needs to run his own life. He may have won all the am titles, but if he goes to MotoConcepts (w/all due respect to their program) a title is not in the cards for him. Just as it hasn't been so far in his career.

Are you serious! He will fold like usual. He can't keep it together for a series. He'll either get angry about something and do something stupid weather its on or off the track.

It bums me out for Mikey that with as much talent he has, the top teams don't want to touch him due to his dad.

Alright, I'll bite on this.

Mike has a factory KTM contract and has been invited to participate in bringing a new type of bike into the sport. In my book, thats pretty big stuff.

So lets see....there are only 5 manufactor's competing in the USA and he is riding for one of them.

And you say he still does not have a ride with a top team?

Of course you can call me that, I have a lot of respect for a few folks like you on this board that have been in the sport a lot longer than I have.

However, it appears once in a while the National Enquirer style headlines on this board clouds folks judgements a tad.

What do you really think Mr. 500guy? Do you really think there were no top teams or factory teams interesteed in MA800 before he signed with KTM?

And if you really think thats true, do you think they have no interest in a top 5/10 (at a minimum) nationals rider with top sponsors purely because of his father?

I know thats what the general populas like to think. Is that what you really think?

I'm still laughing at the thought of Factory KTM not being considered a "top" team.

Rubbish, complete and total rubbish.
