Got about halfway through and threw in the towel. Good luck manufacture and no I could care less about linking my smart phone to my bike or having some bar pad interface.

Rick Sieman also wrote a story about the bleak future of dirt biking and we seem to be slipping ever closer to that.

In all honesty, and as I say this…I recognize it makes me look like a completely hypocritical fool…when yin take into consideration what’s in my garage ..:RM125 thru ADV bikes
The KLX 140 in all its variations, prices and let’s not forget it’s 110 thru 300 sized family of products with prices ranging from $2,900 to $6,300…all of that speaks volumes of where the sport of off-roading is headed and there’s plenty of valuable data in the customer set.
The same can be said of Honda’s CRF-F ($1,800 - $5,000), Suzuki’s DR-Z ($2,600 - $3,600) and Yamaha’s PW-TT-R ($1,850 - $4,700) products.
When you compare the volume and future growth represented by those products and the people that ride them, it makes sense to include them and the people that ride them..especially compared to the fickle types like us that ride the current era higher end bikes.
It's funny to me that a group who so vocally claims to care about the future of moto isn't even willing to spend 15min filling out a survey. Some of the questions are repetitive in a way, that's by design, so that you can tell if the person taking the survey is actually giving thoughtful answers or is an idiot that can't even keep their thoughts straight long enough to be consistent with their responses. If you so passionately don't want phone connectivity to the bike, rider monitoring, or any other additions like that on upcoming models releases then it's probably a good idea to fill out the survey and answer as such rather than throw a fit and quit because you were offended they had the audacity to ask you about it. To me suspension data and monitoring seems like a much bigger benefit than monitoring the rider's vitals or body position so I consistently ranked those options higher than others, that's all they're asking you to do it's not very complicated or hard to understand, nor is it all that tedious to complete.
You notice how the questions/data sets seem to coincide with the direction that the latest FE/RE models have gone (data collection/tracking/LitPRO systems)…?
I know most of my vet buddies spend more time on their 140's that have 190-200 kits on them. I lag behind a bit but I'll be damned if I ever give up my trusty XR 100. They all have beefed up 85 suspension but I keep pounding the ol Hundo

Some of us don't want our every move tracked or data collected. Now....roll out your standard "you'll always have a choice" response and we'll have a good laugh at that again.
Receiving suspension setup recommendations based on the actual action of my suspension would be pretty great. I like to tinker but when it comes to suspension there are so many variables I'd love to have a cheat sheet. Being able to order groceries from a phone on the handlebar was definitely last on my list. I prefer to leave my phone at the truck and monitor personal and gps data with the watch on my wrist.
Cool, then maybe consider filling out the survey and conveying that information to people who actually influence decisions rather than pissing into the wind about it on a message board (that tracks your info and collects your data btw). Oh wait, never mind, I forgot you don't actually ride or purchase bikes so your opinion is irrelevant anyways. . .

I first thought of those as useless gimmicks, but the more I thought about it after finishing, they could both have realistic applications.
I have a very up to date gaming desktop that doesn't get bogged down by anything. This was very strange...every time I click on the link for the survey, the fans on my pc fire up like on no other website. Consistently did the same thing a half dozen times trying to open survey...I decided it best to not get involved in this one.

Like I said, not a fan of the data-mining BS these days. I minimize my exposure best I can. Getting to the point you can't escape it anymore and that should scare the shit out of people. ...and for the record, I'm in tech and have my hand in many of the gadgets people stick up to or in their ear among many other really cool shit I can't share.

We bought the 140L for my wife at the beginning of the pandemic looking for something to do. I haven't had a big bike for 4+ years. We can only ride one at a time because our young child comes with us.
Yeah, there are a lot of them. My sister in law has the 140G and one of my students has another L model.
I don't think I'll ever ride a high end bike again. The power and consequences are too much for me now that I have a kid. I still love riding more than most things but I don't think I'll care much about telemetry on a slow desert bike. We'll see.

Why surveys? Pffff... In general, most of people would wish "the future of mx/off road bikes" looks like this: "bring back the gold standard! that way money would actually value something".

An intelligent survey design would include some weirdo stuff like this so they can eliminate responses if people are just clicking though instead of answering they questions.

I think they should build crf250f type bikes with stiffer suspension. Stone dead reliable and way safer overall. They should start building higher quality vet style tracks. Turn tracks, gp style tracks not outdoor supercross instabanger tracks.
all of this is a pipe dream but I think it would get massively more people out riding at the track, as it is now the barrier to entry is very high between cost, risk, complexity and intimidation.
