Per RacerX, he is reportedly in the hospital in stable condition after a road rage incident. Hoping the best for a full recovery. I have learned over the years it’s best to just cuss out dumb drivers under your breath and let it go. Not worth it.

Probably clapped back at some asshole with a hilarious, snarky comment. Get well soon, Denny!

Bud Man was the one that dropped the news. Sounds like it was bad but he’s going to be ok.

I’m not surprised. I really like Denny but he’s mouthy and that can get you in big trouble.

Until we actually know what happened let’s keep the comments cool. Denny has been far more on the rails this last year or so and as someone who drives a zillion miles a year I see some of the absolute stupidest things happen on the roads even when you keep a cool head. Heal up Denny and I’m glad he’s going to be ok.

That’s crazy to end up in the hospital having surgery from a road rage idiot. But I believe it by seeing usually a suv or pu running people off the road or doing a suicidal monuvers. They try running trks with 46 k + of hazmat off the rd.  Heal up fast Denny.

Road rage is some scary stuff.

My prayers are up for Denny to recover fully and quickly.

Hope he’s ok, Denny is a legend of the sport. Pretty eerie, there’s a podcast a month or so ago he did with Matthes and he was talking about his step father or similar calming him down from a road rage incident where he wanted to fight a guy. Get well soon Denny

This is awful.

I wonder if this was in AZ where he had been staying near his mother or in Nebraska?

He mentioned on Pulp when he was on the show just recently that he yelled or flipped someone off while driving and his Mom told him to stop because someone would shoot him down there. Seems like grim foreshadowing now. I hope the best for him. I really enjoy commenting back and forth with him on X and got to meet and talk to him a bit at Indy and he couldn't have been any cooler.

He blocked me on twitter for telling him to stop a drunken tirade but I’ve always really like him and hope they catch the guy who did this.

Not the time for what? Commenting on a forum.  Like I said, I like Denny and really enjoy listening to all of his commentary. But this news is not surprising. If it was Dungy I’d be surprised. Anyhow…I hope he heals up fast.

It’s called not being a shitbag and be respectful.  If we find out that he ran a guy off the road and beat up an old lady who shot him then yeah, talk some shit.  But until then keep it classy.

Get well soon Denny! We have all seen stupid driving and probably been guilty of it ourselves, but these days people seem super stressed and get stupid really quick. I lost a good friend to a road rage incident a few years back. I never really knew what caused it, but he was shot and killed.

It takes 2 to tango my friend.

Just like the interaction we’re having right now. You could have not responded to my “shitbag” comment, but you did. Now I’m responding to your comment and we’re internet fighting. If one of us would just stop it would be over and no one’s feelings would get hurt. Get my point?

Couldn't agree with you more. The things some idiots/people say on here being a public forum on many topics is mind blowing. Unfortunately, Dude, we are a dying breed. I know Denny personally and Hope for the best. He's tough.

I’ve got a coworker with road rage. Goes from calm, mild mannered 64yr old to absolutely raging lunatic in an instant and it’s flat out scary when it happens and he is driving when we are in the field. Ironically, he has the same reaction to fake news.

I definitely used to road rage pretty bad. I don't know what changed, probably just did some growing up, but I'm very chill with the bullshit on the road these days.

He posted it was a knife to the stomach - no gun involved.

for someone saying it may have been a snarky comment I guess you don’t drive much. There is road rage constantly and it mostly involved no words being exchanged. I’m going more with the moto inspired driving. I know when I was younger I drove like I was in an Arenacross.

heal up quick …I’ve been a huge fan of him and love his family. Good people

We got one side of the story here. So he just didn't like the way Denny was driving, and went straight to stabbing him? You really think that's all there is to it? Even if Denny didn't instigate, did he do anything to deescalate?

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what I think, but anyone who has kids knows there's more to this.

The problem is the perception on here. Every single one of us is THINKING this, probably even texting his Instagram post to a few friends and saying the same thing (I know I did), but they are the same ones who will play holier-than-thou on here if anyone says it out loud.

You can think there is more to the story AND think it's pretty effed up Denny got stabbed, regardless.

Carry on.
