This guy is a fantastic rider, I saw him get a 4th in his 2nd GP, 3 years ago, and have been expecting big things since. A cross between DV and Pourcel, he is calm cool collected and confident before his assault on the World title.
After winning in the Dutch sand against Roelants and Herlings, I think he is going to join the Musquin, Roczen, Simpson duel all season long.
The other guys are approaching form too...Musquin beat Pourcel on a 250f at the weekend and Rozen beat Nagl in Germany...
Those guys will be awesome to watch in bulgaria they love to scrub and whip and Bulgaria will be awesome for that...

Anxiously awaiting the return of Marvin Musquin to these great United States.
He's gonna shake things up a bit.
* He's really too good to be in Europe.....

Musquin already got PASSED and beaten this year by Roczen, Frossard, Paulin and Simpson ....
and he didn't race Zach yet. ;-)

But Roczen's only 15 and is getting quicker by the day. Where he's at by mid-summer will determine the championship, I expect.

Re Pourcel-Dungey-Musquin 09, probably spot on, don't forget Searle passed Musquin at the Nations before 450s got in his way. But shame on you, it's DES Nations. ;-)
Roczen- Barcia=wins, but no title
as for the MX2 class...i'm gonna go with paulin over musquin this year ... with simpson hopefully a few points ahead
as for roczen... i just have this suspicion that he won't finish enough races to win the title (no basis for this though)
i'd also like to see frossard finish 80% of the races, he's definitely fast enough
He is the complete package- the intelligience of Pourcel with the aggression of a Cairoli.
But it is his intelligience that really impresses me the most above his speed, never really gets out of his comfort zone or rides above his head, he and Musquin where the class of the field at the end of last year and Ken is only going to get better as is in my opinion Musquin.
Ken has a big big chance at the title this year.
Looking forward to seeing him at Mallory this weekend.
And I didn't realize the GPs already started?
Let's wait and see when the series starts! Just like Jimmy Albertson, whom I am pulling for, winning now and winning next month are two very different things....

In 2011 he will ride sx lites in US + MXGP'S in Europe.
musquin re-passed after a mistake, but considering tommy's poor end to the season, and musquin winning the world championship, it wasn't the dominant mx2 performance i was expecting
as for frossard..... baby-steps

I like Tommy a lot, so don't read anything into this, it's just hard to go by non-results. It just seems like between Roczen's fans and Tommy's fans and all the U.S.-based riders, Marvin doesn't get a lot of respect. And all he did was win the world title, on two different brands of bikes (and missing a race as a result), then went 1-1 at the MXoN in the Lites class.

That's a good point DC.
I was at the MXoN last year and saw that Tommy was going Musquins pace, or even faster. But (as you know for sure) you can't tell which rider is better based on one race.
There were races last year were Roczen was clearly faster than Musquin and won in front of him, but over all, Musquin won more races over the year.
So even if Tommygun was faster in Franciacorta, we will never know if he would have been able to win the World Titel against Musquin.
Isn't he sidelined due to an injury right now?
i just guess that on the occasions i've seen marvin ride (a number of times in 2008 and at valkenswaard 2009) he hasn't impressed me, so i assumed that after his world championship year, he'd come to the MXDN full of confidence and really put it to all the other mx2 riders... so when tommy started behind him, and then went on to pass him, it caught my eye
as for your hypothetical question..... yes, i think tommy would've won the mx2 world championship if he'd stayed, but we'll never know that one

Frossard and Paulin are my two underdogs crazy fast, a lot of heart but Frossard as proved inconsistent in the last years and always the issue of Paulin size on a MX2 bike.
Roelants, Simpson, Van Horebeek, Charlier, Aubin, Herlings complete the top 10.
As for MXdN Musquin said he put way too much pressure on his shoulders and didn't ride great. Remember that last year was only his second full GP season I believe.
Searle said he rode better at the MXDN than the US nationals.. that would seem accurate since he was quicker than Mettcalfe and Weimar, the Searle at the MXDN was the Searle I expected in the states. I think Simpson would give Tommy all he could handle at the GPs this year and last year ( when fit)
The MX2 class was radically different in 09 to 08 it is hard to compare, Aubin got 3rd in 08 but wasn't close to 09.
The Tommy at the MXDN may have challenged for the world title but the Tommy at the US nationals I don't think would have...I think I would have given Musquin the edge though- the guy was on fire last year.
I believe Musquin was quicker than Rattray was going the year before and this year could be similar to Cairoli/ Pourcel or RV/BT pace in 2007 with Paulin,, Rioczen, Musquin , Simpson and Frossard.
Tommy needs to bring his MXDN speed to the states this year to challenge for the title... and I think he will with a years experiance under his belt... it is going to be another great series.
