I have a pair of Twin-Air filters on order, but I gotta say, this fixation on improving airflow seems like overkill to me.  I rode my new bike for the first time this week, and with a PC pipe, the rubber plug pulled from the airbox, and the foam piece ripped off the inside of the left number plate, my new bike rips even with the stock filter.  My buddy has a ‘23 SR, and he thought my bike was every bit as fast as his and corners better. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Has anyone sucked dirt?  I haven’t seen anything about it here.

Mostly because of the prices of these exhausts now for this thing have jumped to almost gross prices. So why not try to improve it elsewhere for cheaper if you can?

If the exhaust is the issue, I don’t see how making changes to the intake will fix the problem.
I’d still like to hear if anyone has sucked dirt with the stock filter, though.

By removing the baffles to the inside of the exhaust as well that cause it to drown out the power. Just didn’t list that mod. More so it’s just nicer having a better quality and thicker filter than what the stock one is for me personally.

I actually have two 24 kx450’s and tried the stock filter and twin air filter with the oem cage as well both filters with the 3d printed cage (no screen). There has been no dirt ever in the air boot. I haven’t ever had any dirt pass any of the filters including the oem filter and I don’t grease the filter lip either. I run the screenless 3d printed cages.

The pro circuit full pipe made a big difference.

Did you by any chance try the stock pipe with baffles removed before trying full PC?

Removing the baffles made a big difference, I have a Ti6 on order and just wondering if it would still be worth getting it?

I tried to get this answer several pages ago, but I couldn’t, so I just bit the bullet.  I went with the T-6 to save a few bucks and because it was available immediately.  I’m very happy with the performance, but I never even rode the bike without it.

Removing the baffles makes a significant difference. Def worth a try before buying a slip-on or full exhaust.

Yeah I have removed all the baffles and it definitely made a big difference im just wondering if I you had tried stock exhaust with baffles removed vs full PC and was that a worthwhile increase aswell?

Ive tried aftermarket exhausts before but they always seem to last 2 years or so then its more or less trash. Stock definetly last longer. Besides those aftermarket exhausts are getting way to expensive in my opinion.

But they look nice.

This is my second day on the bike, and I’m more and more impressed.  I think with my 6.0 shock spring, I’ll need a bit more fork spring.  I don’t want to give up too much comfort, so I’m going to put in just one stiffer spring to start with.  I just tried the traction control for the first time, and it really helped in the slippery areas of the track without costing me anything.  I just used the single light mode, though.  The manual kind of indicated that the two light mode is just for muddy conditions.  I’m really happy with the power delivery overall, and don’t plan on changing the gearing.

I can't decide on a 50 or 51 rear sprocket. I'm leaning towards 51.

I'm running 51 and very happy with it. With opened airbox, baffles removed from exhaust and 51 rear the power on this thing is almost perfect. Can run 3rd/4th everywhere, does need a little clutch in tightest of corners but still pulls very nice.

Just rode a gritty sand track up here in Minnesota and this bike is groovy af! Checked the air box after every time on the track and nothing got through into the air box at all. I’ve kept stock gearing and she pulls amazing out of corners. 3rd and 4th gear all day long. Downshifted to 2nd once because I came into the corner kind of wonky. So much fun to ride and doesn’t yank your damn arms off. Favorite Kawi I’ve ever had.

I installed a 51 a few rides ago and I think I'll keep it. I still use 2nd gear in the same corners with the 50 vs 51. I have one more track to ride before I decide. Just afraid I'll have to start using 4th in a section that I use 3rd in with the 50.

Seems like my wiring harness was not routed correctly from the factory. Does anyone with their gas tank removed see how it should be routed ? This locking push pin that i’ve arrowed doesn’t hold any wires on my bike but i’m sure it should.

I’ve noticed a couple non factory looking zip ties on the subframe, and there were two other locking push pins near the upper shock mount that held nothing. I put the tps sensor through one.

Maybe I need to check out another bike on a dealer floor but wondering if the service manual has the routing or if anyone doesn’t mind looking on their bike.

Removing the baffles made a big difference, I have a Ti6 on order and just wondering if it would still be worth getting it?

I tried the stock muffler with one screen removed and it may have made a little difference. I didn’t remove the deeper (2nd) screen. Then my T6 pipe came in. The screenless air filter cage seemed to help throttle response. The T6 pro circuit pipe made a big difference..

I’ve also tried both the 50T and 51T sprockets. My thought is if you’re running the stock muffler with or without screens the 51T sprocket is the better choice. However, with the T6 I think I’m going back to the 50T with the stock 120/80 rear tire.
51T if I run the 120/90 tire (slightly taller profile).

Pretty sure the lower of the bigger section of wiring goes through that clip in the frame. The zip ties should be holding the wiring. The service manual is very detailed with the wiring, don't have one for my 24. But I know the biggest section of your wiring should be against the frame rail, I remember my 22 having a worn spot from the wires rubbing.

It's funny how alot of the reviews say how down on power this bike is and how powerful the yz450 is. With these small mods my kx now pulls 3rd better than my 23 yz450f did. I had to go to 13/52 gearing and aggressive mapping on yz to get it to be a 3rd gear bike.

I completely agree.  With my T-6, my bike is giving me all I need and sounds like a beast!  I’m good with stock gearing.

To be honest, yes. It definitely opens up the choked feeling the stock exhaust gives and provides a hit down low the stock was lacking. It’s also a lot lighter than the stock as well.

No afraid! 4th is magical, just chugs along over rollers, frees up suspension, pulls nice with a 51 in 4th.

Yeah I'm finding with the 51 I can actually short shift into 4th alot earlier coming out corners and bike handles the acceleration bumps better. With 50 I'd have to rev 3rd out alot more otherwise it would struggle a bit. People running full exhaust may not have that trouble.

Man, with my T-6 installed, I actually had to use the traction control in mode one yesterday keep ‘er under control.  I don’t think I’d want any more “pop” out of corners.  With the stock gearing and the PC pipe, the only corners I’m using second are in flat 180s where I would expect to.  Otherwise, she’ll pull 3rd gear everywhere with more acceleration than I need.  The only downside of that pipe is the noise.  It sure is loud.
