With his grip strength issue i see him retiring. AC isnt a guy that will take a big money deal with another manufacturer if he isnt able to perform to his fullest and a privateer effort will never happen. With prado looking at kawi and the 21 having 1 more year on his contract i see acs career being over

With Prado signed it seems Forkner gets another year in 250s too?

Imagine what could have been if he was born with two normal shoulders, instead of defected ones.

I honestly feel bad for him, at this point he’s not doing it for money, he has plenty, he just wants to win more than anything, and it’s killing him that he can’t. He’s gone through some serious depression in his life.

I haven't read the thread, but did anyone mention Beta?  AC9 and Colt would be a great team.  Beta could hire AC9 on a performance based contract, provide him a bike that can win, and he could give the bike great exposure with leading some laps occasionally.

I just don't see it being as easy as all that. Training and trainers, agents, lawyers, health insurance, motorhomes and drivers, taxes, a retirement plan, living arrangements on two coasts, paying hangers on, family, and man friends, a huge contract could get eaten into real quick. AC had spent alot of his time injured, and though I understand he has investment properties, does he have a several million dollar nest egg to retire? I doubt it.

I don’t see how you think someone like AC who’s won races, won a 250 outdoor title, been factory forever, been monster forever, was AStars as amateur forever, has been running fox has a 450 factory rider for years now doesn’t have a couple mill in the bank? You don’t see him posting pics of cars and jewelry, seems like he’s a pretty normal guy who’s made a bunch of money and probably saved it knowing he and his kids can be set up.

Retiring at 27 - 28 on "a couple million" wouldn't be as simple as all that. The professionals that manage his assets would get a cut from that just to manage it, let alone everything else. On the 4% rule, 2 million gives you 80k a year in retirement, hardly great in California, hardly acceptable to someone used to AC's lifestyle. I just find it unreliable to make assumptions on somebodies financial well being whom I don't think anyone on this thread has even had a multiple sentence conversation with. I know a few people with income properties, I don't consider them wealthy. Of course it is all perspective I suppose.

He’ll be fine, he’s made a lot of money and has been smart with it. His outside earnings are plenty enough to retire on.

if he wants to retire I would understand, although riding for one of the new manufacturers like Beta or Triumph would be cool to watch.

I’m thinking AC will retire after the 2024 season.

I think beta signed both bloss and Nichol’s to two year deals. Don’t think it would be beta. And will triumph have there 450 ready next year?  I have my doubts.

I think AC will base everything off of how he feels. Maybe just saying screw it and sitting out the rest of the year to properly give his arm time to heal would be a good move. Getting mediocre results when your capable of more has to be very difficult

That’s the thing time off isn’t going to fix his nerve issue unfortunately.  Nerves aren’t well understood compared to other systems in the body. It’s not necessarily something that will ‘heal’ over time.

^ This seems most likely if Forkner doesn't crash out like normal. Kawi is honestly better off without both of them. Those 2 crash more than the rest of the classes combined in a season..

It depends, I put my entire shoulder to “sleep” and damaged the nerves. It took 9 months of no lifting anything over 5lbs. Time heals, nerves roughly 1inch per month is what is averaged out. Point being, riding around and not putting the results in that he would like is tough. He can take the time off, yes he will not have a factory ride. But more than likely he will be on a team like Ferrandis if he chooses to continue racing.  I for one hope he does, just hope he gives himself the best opportunity.

Dude will be fine after racing and has numerous career paths available to him. He isn’t going to retire to an over-55 community and be the next shuffleboard champ. And, “wealthy” in Newport Beach has a different metric than “wealthy” in Boise. It definitely is a matter of perspective.

Raise your hand if you had AC's money at the age of 27?

More people who are rich at 27 become poor by 50, than stay rich.

This thread is funny, first we had all the Vital Doctors and then Lawyers now we have all the Vital financial advisors/agents. None of you clowns know the first thing about how much money AC has or has made in the past and his financial future. laugh 1.gif?VersionId=n2r

I hope he stays healthy and kills it this outdoors and gets a factory ride again.
I think a change of scenery would do him good.

Gas Gas maybe?
