I completely understand not sharing information provided off-record after giving your word to the source, but as said above, teasing it is lame.

That's a fair point by 150. I understand withholding information gained in confidence off the record. The feeling of a tease I get from comments like that is the part that irritates me, and not something I typically see from ML.

In context, my first comment isn't really a fair representation of the situation, which I can acknowledge. My bad on that.

This is the big thing people don’t understand lol I wish more people who think it’s easy could get a chance to do it for a season and then I think they would understand the juggling act that Moto Media has to be super careful with throughout the year. You get on one persons bad side and it can have big chain reaction consequences.

One Canadian team I know of said the price was too high, he also said the price and I was abit shocked if that was the asking price.

I believe he’s riding Haas’ (ClubMX owner) YZ450F right now.

Say the price. This is why Moto will never compare to other sports bc people don’t spill the beans on the good stuff.

It's weird that 5 people downvoted this. Do you prefer to stay in the dark?

As far as ML not giving the figure I totally understand. If you are asked not to say you simply don't say. Zacho can still command a lot of money and there were people in GNCC that were not happy how much they paid him. If you look at the bike and the movement of riders you can figure out who. Same situation as ML, I was told what he made last year but I absolutely would not break trust on a public forum. It wasn't that he did bad, he was just injured far too often. From the few races he did in the Florida Trail Riders series, he can go pretty rapid off road.

I was chatting with Zack about my business a couple weeks ago and he said he was riding in Florida not at ClubMX

That's how you burn bridges. If someone tells you something off the record and asks you not to quote exact figures, you either respect their wishes or burn them and lose the trust of everyone else in the industry. Pretty easy to understand

Sorry I just won’t say anything in the future. I was just trying to add in that the Canada route didn’t seem likely from what I was told. Fucked if you do, fucked if you don’t.

I appreciate the added info.  If you said that they couldn't  come to terms . People would wonder what  terms were an issue.  You gave as much info as You could.  And implying that it was a high number given your experience as a team owner lets us know that Zack is asking for a good amount of money.

I would bet that there is a much larger number of people that enjoy and appreciate the info You gave. And its just a vocal minority that is always pushing for more. Some people will never be happy. Keep doing your thing and forget the people with problems. I see that You and others do implement some of the stuff that people ask for. Just keep doing what you do. You know what suggestions will work for You or that You are willing to try, and what is crazy.  It must get old sometimes dealing with all of us on here.

He’s in Florida on a blue bike. Most likely a club bike. Not sure if that’s where he’s going or not, but supposed to be doing nationals for a blue team

AMA 450/MX1 Nationals on a Cub Moto-ish YZ450.

I couldn't give the smallest shit about additional info. It was the teaser part that is baffling, that is all. It really isn't a big deal or meant to be offensive to anyone. It was just the whole I know something you don't thing, just odd.

For the thousandth time.... reporting on things while not pissing off sources is not an issue unique to moto. That is the journalist's job. Everyone understands keeping your word if you are told things off the record. But as others have pointed out, moto media can't help themselves over and over again with the "I know something you don't know" routine. It also seems like moto media are very quick to go off the record and get their juicy gossip. Approaching the conversations as bros going off the record instead of a journalist doing a job is a choice.

Not to bag on Zach but he has tried some one off races since he retired. Not sure he demands a high salary if he plans on racing outdoors this year. Would be cool to see him racing but would he be battling for wins ?
