Just wondering if anyone is running a 2 stroke 250 in the 450 class this year. Always rooted for Lesher just because he ran the ol chainsaw out there. Thanks!
Steinke.
He hasn't made it to a main this year right?
Wish more back of the pack guys decided to go premix. Nobody is noticing randos who finish 17th, 19th, 18th race after race. It would give them a lot of boost for real.
He hasn't.
Why are 450s allowed in the 250 class?
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
I’m running my Yz 250 against 450s again this season.
Oh wait did you mean actual pros? 😂
It won't happen. But they seriously need to make 2 strokes ONLY for supercross. Make it 150cc class and a 300cc class. That way the 125's won't be so underpowered and the 250's can be bored out to 300cc or stock Austrian bikes. It would make the racing so much safer and fun to watch. Would slow down the flow just enough to bring back more technical riding skills. Dirt starts and blitz only whoops.
And what would the Honda/Kawasaki/Suzuki guys ride ? Old bikes from 2006 ?
Great wish but its not reality.
Lesher was a badass, dude ripped and that YZ was absolutely dialled.
Where's he at this year?
Racing Arenacross.
Its called: They have to make them again bro. If it became popular enough, ALL MFG's will start making 2 strokes again.
Actually no they wouldn't.
No they wouldn’t.
Same here... It was pretty cool to holeshot a bunch of races on my CRF450 in 2022, but that's about the only fun I had.
Fine then they don't make them and everyone rides Yamaha, KTM, Husky, GasGas. Pretty sure they'd have no choice but to join the party. Just like they all did when 250F's became legal in the 125cc class and Yamaha was winning everything. They all had to develop 250F's to keep up.
The difference is that they realised a four strike was the fastest way around the motocross track.
No rational person these days believes a two stroke in any configuration is better than a four stroke for MX and SX.
After watching adult males turn 40 sec. laps on 450 4 strk. bikes with capabilities far beyond what was required does make you question things.
I'd make a proper open class to replace 450s - anything goes! And I would make the 250 class exactly that. Equal displacement for 2 and 4 strokes.. the factory 250f would still be superior to a well built 250t, but it would make it cool to watch!!
They screwed up forever ago and won't go back. 250 2 strokes should be allowed racing in the 250 class. Stock stroke n bore n everything else goes. Would help the privateers be close to the factory 250f's.
Pit Row
They aren't going to change the classes or add a new class to the program.
There's nothing stopping relatively slower riders from racing two strokes esp in the 450 class. Back of the pack 450 riders will never run with the top guys, even in muddy conditions. They won't be noticed other than from their family and friends, it's all for nothing.
Get them to ride a bike with premix, and they become instant heros, even at the back of the pack.
They need to lower displacement. The premier class needs to go back to 250cc and 125 or 150cc for the lites. When the last place lcq guy can clear every obstacle from the inside line, the bikes are too powerful.
