Other than the Mud races, Jett Lawrence has everyone covered in the speed category in Supercross if it's a normal dry track.  I wonder what's going through the minds of all these past AMA Pro SX and MX champions when they see 20 year old Jett in front of them and they're like Damn! this kid is fast, where can I find more speed, but all they can do is watch him steadily pull away no matter how hard they push.  I'm thinking after his rookie perfect MX season in 2023, Jett has already the psychological edge knowing he IS! the fastest rider and he's only going to get better.  So! many great riders who would have won Championships, but ended up racing for 2nd, because there was always that one rider like Ricky Carmichael or Jeremy McGrath that always had them covered.   Jett is certainly on track to becoming a legend to the dismay of those who don't like him.

First the RC blowie thread now this. The sport has a way of equalizing. Let's just enjoy the racing as it comes.

Easy now Tyler, this place will be a ghost town if myself and others don't continually try to figure out topics to discuss or bitch about.  Since you joined, what have you contributed to this forum other than sitting on the sidelines and complaining, because without those of us that think up Topics, there won't be a forum at all.   I have a suggestion for you, if you see a Thread started by me, don't click on it and upset yourself.

I think for the guys up around that 30 mark they probably aren’t too gutted or surprised by it. It should be expected at their age.  I think the entire sport is amazed at how well these guys are doing at an age that used to be well passed the prime age. But for someone like sexton in his what is it 4th year in 450s? He should be peaking right now and at his best all round performance. Hey maybe he is and he will actually dungey this championship like has been mentioned elsewhere, or maybe he’s pissed cos his young buck ex teammate is maybe gonna make him look 2nd rate again.

McGrath always had them covered , what ? 96 in Seattle Huffman ran him down like he was a c rider. Won the  next week easily then blows his knee out testing. Fro beat him in 97. Using the 96 frame & setup. If Damon stuck with the 96 setup he would,ve won 97-2001. The 97-2000 kx was garbage . The rest of the field is old . Jett is 20 do you remember being 20 ? You’re way better at 20 than 32.  I,m not surprised he’s winning I would more shocked if he didn’t win. His attitude is get out of the way old man and go raise your family.

I don't think any seasoned past champ gives a flying fuk about what Jett's doing. They are mature enough to focus own their own program.

Is this why they have dozens of people making their decisions for them?

My opinion is it is eating them. Constantly we are told how delicate they are in the mind.

Whatever it is, the psychological effects on die hard fans who wont admit to their fave riders inability to come anywhere near the talent/speed of Jett is far more evident on here. Its still SX, when MX comes around the coping level on here is going to be all time Grinning.

These guys aren’t dumb enough to realize their careers are short. Even donut boy will get beat by some new young kid one day. There’s no psychological effects. It’s just that time.

Then you either have Alzheimers or a very short memory.   James Bubba Stewart and his FMOTP rabid fans were much worse, the only thing that kept them Humble was a pesky freakle faced red head that beat him in every AMA championship they race together in and now despise in the Announcers booth.

Do you really think Tomac, Barcia, Anderson and Roczen have dozens of people making decisions for them? Where did you hear that from?

Nothing is Eating them. They have huge contracts with all the bells 'n whistles...perks.. and $$$ that come with a win or per point earned. These guys can retire now if they want to. They aint worried about Jett.

Reminiscent of when young gun Gordon was supposed to pass Petty's and Earnhardt's 7 Championships.

Kudos to former MXer Jimmy Johnson for tying it

Few things more chickenshit than being a blow hard, disappearing when your boy loses, and then picking up the blow hard when he wins again.

And now you're on about Stew again, what a kook.

Jett's a great rider.

Those of us that have been following the sport have seen others with jett's potential.

There is no better example than tomac.

Wins his first ever national.

Moves up the big class and comes out swinging. Holy crap, pulls out to over a minute lead and looks untouchable.

That fickle bitch moto fate has something to say about it. Blows out both shoulders.

Even when he comes back it takes a couple years before he finally gets the #1 plate in Supercross.

Hey remember back last year when he was about 15 laps away from clinching another title?

I guess my point is that guys like tomac, Webb,  roczen, and Anderson have had success and disappointment and they all have beaten the rider getting all the hype this year. They know things can go south for somebody that seems unbeatable because they have all been that guy.

I doubt they spend a lot of time curled up in a fetal position thinking about it.

The funniest part is that his golden pony couldn't hack it in less than perfect conditions the last few weeks...was riding over his head and ate shit in the whoops too.

He won this week on the most boring track we've seen in I don't know when, essentially arenacross/startcross.   Real impressive.

Tomacs shock was apparently blown,   Webb got a bad start and moved thru the pack.

These kind of fans in any sport are truly insufferable.

The schadenfreude is going to be sweet when shit goes off the rails...and it will.

How hang on one Picken! second, there has been negative comments at nauseam about Jett Lawrence and his fans, because of his success and that his fan base are excited to watch him race and win, BUT! were suppose to pretend that there wasn't any James Stewart mania back when he came on the scene.  I'm just making this comparison, because what's going on with Jett Lawrence isn't anything new in the history of Supercross and Motocross, he's just the current Superstar of the sport, kind of like Michael Jordon was at the beginning of his NBA career.
