I hear ya bud, I just honestly think it is cool that a legend of the sport loves it so much he spends his time commentating on it in retirement. I agree he isn’t good at it, but most guys watching this on TV don’t need commentary anyhow. I am on the quieter side of hearing so I miss most of his mistakes anyhow haha

I’m sure that he’s doing it for free because he loves the sport. Brian Deegan volunteered his services also🤦♂️
In my industry we employ 50% of people for experience and ability, the other 50% to ensure we meet diversity criteria. At least RC has exposure to racing.
A legend of the sport can mumble as much as he wants for all im concerned.
I dont watch the races for the commentary, it really makes no difference to me.

I'm with you. None of this stuff bothers me. That's goes for Will too. I do notice how much better it is when it's guys like Weege and Lanston in the booth. But when the commentators are supposedly awful, I really don't notice. With one exception though. Ralph drove me nuts. So I do get it but the current product, it's fine
Mumbling monkey? Hes got 15 Pro AMA Championships. To put that into context Tomac has 8. So he deserves to be around this sport.
You dont have to love his commentating, but you also dont have to disrespect someone like that.
Get yourself a nice reciever and speakers so you can mute the commentary.. it changes everything hearing only the bikes and fans.

Ridiculous take. Incredible on the bike 100%, but that in no way qualifies him to stumble on the microphone and sound like a 6th grader at best. He was fine trackside or in the pits, but we need someone in the booth that adds value, and RC just does not.
Does he deserve to be around the sport? Sure, just not anywhere near a microphone.
Having a lot of titles should not automatically qualify someone to be an announcer.
How many Pro MX/SX titles does Daniel Blair have? None, and he's one of the best in the booth.
James doesn't have as many titles as RC, and hasn't been doing the broadcast gig for as long as he has, yet he's a lot better than Ricky.
Broc Glover did a great job when he was a guest announcer for an outdoor round.
Cianciarulo is another one that's great with a microphone.
Titles don't mean much when it comes to being an announcer.
If titles qualified someone for the broadcast gig, then it should be McGrath announcing Supercross. He's got seven titles to RC's five.

I'll take a different angle on it.
I imagine he was aware of his shortcomings going in and receives critical feedback from his support staff after every event as part of his professional development.
I think it would take a fair amount of moxie to keep stepping up to the plate and taking another swing, knowing there are people not only ripping him to shreds but looking forward to the opportunity to do so. I know people that fall apart in front of a phone when someone starts videoing them, so he's at least overcome the camera fear to talk to a national (international?) audience.
Kudos to him for pursuing something he wants to do and persevering to improve. I'm sure it's the same character trait that made him the GOAT. Will he ever be the GOAT in the booth? Time will tell, but I'm sure he doesn't want to fail for lack of effort - he doesn't seem to be wired that way.
Maybe one day we'll see him performing in the booth at the level he did on the track and look back and realize we were watching him before the training wheels came off.
Good luck to him, I'm rooting for him to be successful (even as much as I enjoy the joke material it currently provides!).
