Social media. Post small clips of him riding and racing and tag companies that make products he is currently using. Work on getting his follow count up on IG. You can spend $20 on Instagram and they will distribute a sponsored post for 3 days to people who follow the same people he follows. It’s a great way to boost followers which is a metric a potential sponsor will look at when deciding to lend support to his program.

Thanks he is on Instagram and he does post about his races but I dont know about the paid promotion so will look into that

Oh, btw, if it is about raising some coins too, local businesses may like to have a bike in display during the week, year end party, or interested to have their employees and customers invited to races nearby (not a Jett VIP experience but it is actually awesome to spend some time during the day with the leading rider of the day even if it is at the back of a truck). If he is that fast, it can be 10k+. But not that easy money to get, and if going that route it is easier through an association you create for "promoting riding" to offset some of their company taxes. If he is next level, and so needs like a bike per month, yup, often 30-40 hours per month on multiple tracks so must sell to quite avoid some risks due to extreme usage, it can be coupled with a company status too to offset some vat, better ask an accountant, but if so the importers should help as you pay much later, basically when you sell it,  and get better discounts too (20%+).

Get ready to become an expert at making an abused bike looking clean if so, when you sell it it must look like new and as oem as possible = no racing stigma, no stickers except oem. Riding a TM or Sherco or Beta etc can be fun and bring the same results while being different, if at some point he is not enough supported, it can help. All in all, it is something to look at it seriously and to be serious about it, it is not free money either. It is easier to spend than to make money or make some good cost avoidance, but at the same time, it costs time. Nothing is free and even Jett had to go through a rough path.

The best is to build very long term relationships (to acquire a new customer cost 7 times more than to keep 1), I don't remember which rider but I think it was Martens, he built such relationships with so many little/big sponsors through 20 years of racing that he managed a ktm team for years in europe and was like the grooming step of the next prodigees : that should be almost the "best in class" example at racing to the highest level while doing it on budget.

Hi my nephew is professional mx rider he has been ridding since he was 4 and ranked 2nd on inland mx missing 1st by 5 points due to injury.

He is competing against fully sponsored racing teams and still placed 2nd he lives eats and sleeps mx and is only limited by his equipment. How can I get him sponsored so he can have a shot at racing at professional level?

Write up a resume with all his wins and his goals ,school grades typical resume . Send out to all the companies someone will respond. Back in the late 80s i did the same and had oneil maxima smith goggles all gave me a B rider support ride you bought items and got them for dealer costs . I just came to read pro125s comments.

Oh Bro it’s soo flustrating. The 1st pu in NC was at 2 locations supposed to seal but I can’t because my co adds more pu,s. When the rate contract is only there freight exclusively. In route to Colorado they add another pu near St. Louis. 100+ details here massive amount of calls& text. I find out the broker & my co know that I can not enter the airport gate because it’s 13.0.  To deliver onto the tarmac . Yes there the airplanes are. I,m 13.6 by the way. This takes 4 + hrs no pay of course. Talk of unloading in the busy street of the airport. I said I see 1 problem if a snow storm hits . He brings a warehouse forklift out. He will b stuck, now we can’t get the freight off. I pallet jack the freight off to the rear , for free of course. On the hhg rig the LTL trks would never get through the 3-4 ft of mud 4 mi to our job site. I just threw forks on a rubber tire backhoe or Trackhoe, payloader . Tell another man get that Mack under that flat bed now. And we would race out to the rd & unld the trucker asap. Today that would b impossible with the world full of dumb azzes.  As far as sponsorship good luck. In America the kids that race a lot hv dad,s that own a buisness or a  construction co.  Pro ams hv a little bit of money but probably not enough to race in Tx. Then in Pa. The next round.gas , food & tolls would eat the 500 up real fast .  Fair races pay a little motokazie- promoter in Mn. Has quite a few rounds . Most r in Mn. & a few in western Wisconsin. The ne has some 2-st races that hv a big purses. Muddy creek has the biggest 30+k . Thx to AP7 throwing 10+ k in. But there national racers on modded 250 2-st that go wo.  Ps a pro am back in 9th doesn’t pay much.

IMG 8964Trying to get a race budget is impossible or even pay your bills. My co is connected to a few others . I know for a fact there organized crime. Early in the week I mentioned a lot of hourly pay & a ld that wasn’t paid. The boss sprints out of the room yells my name and runs towards the dispatchers. 4 of them surround me & go on attack. I had this 1960,s buck hunting knife in my back pocket . When I was 12 I butchered a deer in my grandmas kitchen. This is a bad azz knife. You can split the back bone of a deer pretty easy.  Pretty sad I hv to be ready use it.  It’s a felony to attack a 50+ yr old not that they care. But drivers been murder in Chicago for trying to get paid.  If 4 attack at once . I don’t hv a choice but to drive it in real quick on all 4 . If I drive it under 1,s rib cage and lift his legs in the air . I,m more than strong enough to do that. These guys r so Jewish that the other 3 would attack.  I think sticking all 4 real quick would be the best way to walk out alive.  Ps I,ve seen 5-7 guys from the trk shop & other trucking co.s show up at our warehouse. There’s 1 that 6,9 in & he is really strong. I saw him pu a bags of tire chains with 2 fingers.  I wanted to pu a gun on my time off but I had to wait a day to get a rental car . Then I was to busy.  All our ttks where broke down at the warehouse. So I had nowhere to park trk & trl. So I couldn’t take my van . Not to ruin the kids dream but most buisnesses r not doing very well. Tough to get money out of a stranger. Oh yeah starving & couldn’t find a parking spot around Cincinnati. Stop 1 is on tracking I,m sure there wondering what is this guy doing going to 2 other warehouses today. A 3rd tomorrow.

Make a professional resume with race & academic achievements, and a few photos. Look up all the company addresses and get to mailing. Worked 20 years ago and it still works now.

As others have said..Running an Instagram with pics and videos posted regularly is a huge plus, easy to tag companies and get their attention if he’s something special.

Exactly this, but not just Moto.  Friend of mine did a good portfolio of his racing, spectator numbers, location etc I'm sure you get the drift and simply went door knocking.  He ended up being sponsored by a pet food company, steel fabrication shop and a pet crematorium!

Edit: his was tarmac circuit racing so times the funds needed by 10!  It's out there you just need to put the effort in, and show the sponsors where their money is going

If he's as good as you say then the sponsors will come to him, but I doubt he is. Worst thing you can do is blame his lack of results on the bike. Whistling
