Prado to Monster Energy Kawasaki for 2025?

Rumor going around the pits at A2 and Ping hinted at it on the “Riders Meeting” pod today.

Our post race pod last week I threw that one out there, but more as an educated guess.

I think it’s pretty easy to say that Prado will have US offers from Factory Kawi and the Austrian trio (probably for KTM). Yamaha would depend on if Eli decides to go one more year. Webb is on for three years and Jcoop is a one year deal but has clauses in his contract to activate another year if he meets certain requirements.

Honda would be full.

Can’t imagine that Prado would seriously consider an offer from HEP with other major options on the table.

Lewis brought up an interesting point, what if Ducati takes a big run at him to stay in MXGP one more year as their debut guy and then go US? Money could be big but would he want to risk it and wait a whole extra year to come to the US…or just come here next year on a proven program.

Listening to his interviews he sounds like he is giddy to race and compete here so would think he'll take the offer that he thinks will best allow him to do that ASAP. I'm not convinced he wouldn't stay now if it was just up to him. Seems to be enjoying the challenge.

even a one year Kawi deal onto Ducati as the monster tie up continues on,  although im not sure he would be the right person for a new to SX manufacturer,

VW group who own Ducati have the money to make it happen,

what's the deal with the Husqvarna riders contracts? is there a space there?

Are we saying he is not willing to part with Thor and ride for Troy? Can Husky afford him?

I never understand these hang ups around sponsors. Other than some gear where I can see there being personal preference, who cares who is writing the check to put logos on your stuff?

I believe some athletes rather stick to RedBull with the image RedBull has which is having the premier motorsport athletes in the world that alone carries a lot of weight and positive public image.

You're right it doesn't matter but in todays day and age image is a big deal.

Why would Ducati go all in on him for only 1 year?  I don't think there is even a 1% chance of that, doesn't make sense for either side.  I don't think Prado wants to leave KTM group.  KTM would dump AP for him next year or have a 450 trio?

Wait…do all of you really think GasGas won’t be the bike a Spanish rider is on??  They will finally add a second 450 and boom.  I can’t believe this is not the expectation?

Prado will ride in USA next year.

Only two "serious" options : Red Bull KTM or Monster Energy Kawasaki.

Don't forget he has already talked a few times with Kawasaki in Europe the last few years...

Ducati is actually not an option. Way too early.

I didn’t say one year for Ducati, the theory is they sign him to do GPs in 2025 and US In 2026 and beyond.

Gear deals. At US GasGas he’s tied into the team’s TLD deal, Oakley, Alpinestars, etc. He wouldn’t get paid for those items.

If they place him at KTM, he would continue his Scott relationship, Siri, Airoh, and maybe shop a new gear deal or do a new deal with Thor. For Prado, those deals could easily be worth 300-500k a year together or more. Plus individual bonuses for race wins, championships, etc.

Ah, I misunderstood.  Still don't see that happening, though it'd be cool.

And what will happen to Plessinger then? 3 riders at KTM?

Plessinger could stay with KTM. Or sign a deal with Husky...

Plessinger is on a one year deal. They either go three riders on KTM, offer Aaron a new deal to move to Husky or GasGas…or maybe Aaron could go Kawasaki?

Lawrences are wrapped up for a long time, Anderson new two year deal at Kawi, Barcia new two year deal at GasGas, Mookie new two year deal at Husky, Chase two year with option third deal, Webb two year with option third deal, Tomac can retire or go another year if he wants.

Basically Prado will be the first big domino to fall for 2025 silly season. Prado needs to make his choice before anything else probably gets done. Like Craig, Plessinger, Cianciarulo etc.

Roczen is on a one year deal at HEP.

Ferrandis one year deal at Phoenix, they have first right of refusal though.

I can easily see Ferrandis move to Kawasaki if he performs in the 2024 outdoor championship...

I would have thought the Spanish guy on the "spanish" gasgas would be the go.

Troy Lee owns the team. I get they cannot do there own gear deal. But u would think he would sign for the team like any other contract. Then tld would give him gear money in addition to the regular contract price. So it would end up a similar value.

Then he keeps his redbull deal.

Bam bam is nearing the end of his career so he takes over from him.

If he goes to ktm there will be 2 number 1 guys and could end with issues.

If the triumph 250 proves competitive he may be tempted by their 450 which would be ready to go..

do you think that Prado is a bigger deal than Plessenger?

I would think that AP having the red plate, and being one of the most popular riders in the USA would be more sort after

I would have thought this too,  even if that means Husqy goes back to 1 450 rider,

As much as I love AP, unless he wins this supercross title. I'd rather have the reigning world champ then him on the roster.

If he knows what's good for him he will retire and become a color commentator or open a riding school/facility.

Husky back to 1 rider would be OK. Drop Craig. Keep malcom. Then rj moves up in a 2 years and bam retires.

The gear deal bit doesn't make that much sense. Like I get the team is sponsored by the gear brand. Just pass on the money instead of keeping it. In this case it's tld. And tld can pay him

I don't think the "Only wear TLD, Astars and Oakley would be a big deal to be honest, MXGP guys are used to team gear deals, in Fact his Thor, Airoh and Sidi Deals are through the team, same with Gajser at Fox and Jeffrey on Astars, the only MXGP rider who has freedom to chose his gear is Seewer i believe.

Prado will be on a TLD GasGas next year, AP to Husqvarna I think with RJ alongside him
