I'm so thankful to Kenny for being so open and articulate on press day. I took a lot from our discussion.
I think it's worth your time, so I've put it below. Chase, Jorge and Christian were very insightful as well.
I transcribed the Kenny interview from today, for those who would rather read it. It's HERE.
Thanks for the text version bossman
Webb looks sick and he's coughing. Sick racers win races.
Yes. Thank you!

Something different in the air around Kenny and AP this year. It feels like they’re both in a great headspace.
Read it, thanks!
So before you asked that question did you know he suffered from depression?...and Epstein Barr?
EBV sucks. it's no joke. it will make anybody depressed real quick.
EBV has been well documented... The other stuff, no. I wasn't expecting it to go down that path.
The idea of the question was to let the rider dictate the path of the interview. I need to refine it.
In all honesty Lewis, if I was Kenny and you asked that question to me,...I would have squinted Clint Eastwood style, looked at you with disgust and said "What?"
But some how you got out of him that he suffers from depression and Epstein Barr. So I guess you win.
I suppose....the best part of science is experimentation...and if one applied that to interviewing SX-ers, the results might be interesting
A lot of people are telling me that I'm an awful human for asking these 'semi-deep' questions, but I feel like that's my job.
Kenny and Chase thanked me for an interview that wasn't boring and the same old questions. Most riders respond well!
Well, except Eli. I don't think Eli wants any part of a deep question. Haha!
What did Jett say about the last couple weeks riding in the mud?
Keep up the great work, Lewis. Very much appreciated.
I thinks its great if you ask questions that are bit more intelligent, deeper as you say.
I suppose toeing the line of cringe every once in awhile is ok if it betters yours craft.
Keep going about your journey as a journalist Lewis. We have your back.
I will admit that maybe I found the line (or even crossed it) today. There are improvements to be made.
I appreciate you efforts and candour!
I will say this, actually... I cannot believe that not one rider went for the "accepting criticism" option.
I really wanted to dive into that. Dammit! I was thinking that would be their go to. I was sad. Haha!
Pit Row
Can you transcribe it in Australian?
Nothing wrong with your questions Lewis. It's actually quite refreshing . Keep up the good work. This one with Roczen was really good but simply not long enough.
Thank you for putting a transcribed version out here for us who prefer to read.
Thank you! I really, really want to get in-depth with these guys (face to face) in the middle of the week.
Thinking about what Kenny and I could get into across an hour on a random Wednesday excites me...
I'm well aware that press day isn't ideal for this, but we don't have any other options. No alternative.
Remember...the goal is to have a good interview...not to impress upon others(your peer group/the audience) that you are smart by asking complicated questions.
I've always said that this is my goal:
If the rider has to stop and think once in the interview then I'm happy, because that means that there is some depth to it.
This is awesome. Probably the best set of insight kids and upcoming racers can learn from I have seen
Nice to see different questions other than something like "how was your week and how are you feeling coming into this weekend?". Great interviews, thank you!
Tomac has given some pretty good interviews over the last couple of seasons compared to earlier in his career. I’ve noticed though the questions have to be direct and very specific and he can actually share some great insight, too many words or to broad of a question and you’ll get the generic short answer.
About Tomac, some people have hard time to talk up front a camera. They feel unconfortable because they are shy and introvert. Eli is like Kawhi Leonard, he is just an humble and introvert guy but that's not mean he is not fun. Tomac has a race day mode mind that make him look like an unfriendly bad dude sometimes. AP for exemple didn't have enough that raceday mind but it's better now. Be Introvert is not a sickness. I personally prefer introvert people than people that talk too much.
Questions like how's the Alfalfa growing this year or How are you liking the Porsche should get him talking 😂
Agree Eli seems way more open and happier in general these day, love to see it.
Lewis, awesome job as per usual, great intereview 👍
Loved that interview with kenny! His honesty is always great to hear!
I think to ask prado that question was maybe a little bit too much, he is still so young. These kind of questions are more for experienced, older riders imo.
Great interview, I think that type of conversation and honesty makes a rider way more relatable. I wasn’t a fan of KR a few years back, but the way he’s relaxed and seems to enjoy himself lately makes it impossible not to like the guy these days.
Keep it up!
