Any reason for the choice of rod ?

Better than stock , or just availability and confidence using them before .

Awesome attention to detail chuck! Always enjoy drooling over your builds. Can't wait to see this one done. I have a 99 125 I've slowly been hoarding stuff for and this is definitely giving me motivation to get on it. Side note sorry to derail but if anyone knows where to get a set of those cool berg racing carbon airbox streamliner guards pm me on here plz thanks!s1200 1F721B32 14C5 4D00 B323 33687410A1EF

Thanks! I have set of NOS original Berg Racing Streamliners that I’m just fitting. They’re so rare though that I won’t use them to ride with so will be removed before I hit the track. Not sure I’ll actually have a use for them after that to be honest…

They’re definitely amazing looking though, IMO one of the most iconic carbon parts.

Big fan of ProX…Japanese made should be saying enough, but properly made in the same factories as OEM without the price tag. Good availability. I use them on all my builds and they have an excellent reputation.

I have always used genuine, or Mahle/ Wossner.

Will give them a look for the 125.

There was a thread not too long ago with a lot of users saying the quality and country of origin on a lot of their parts have changed and not for the better.

Yeah I believe some of their brake rebuild kits etc are rebranded other stuff (perhaps allballs), but I’ve still never had any issues with them.

Their engine bearings are Koyo Japanese and their rod kits are 100% made in Japan.

You’re able to get those builds done quickly

Finally took a few minutes to read through this thread @chuckdavies , and awesome build you got going here! Some gorgeous parts you're using also, drool worthy stuff 👌

It's a little bit of smoke and mirrors - as mentioned I've been parts collecting for this for quite a few months now but didn't make a start on this build thread until I got into assembly where things speed up a little. I'm not far away now, cylinder is back from plating today so I'm hoping to have a solid day on it tomorrow and get it to 95% done.

Thanks Tommi! Excited to see it come together now Smile

Cylinder back from being freshly plated at Aptec. Hard anodised powervalve colours, Docwob billet lower powervalve cover, zinc plated Studs, titanium bolts and cylinder & head nuts, new VForce3.

Annoyingly the previous owner obviously didn’t realise the reverse thread on the powervalve shaft and has stretched the thread. Discontinued part but luckily my local dealer had one and it’s out for delivery on Monday.

New 997s that I’ve anodised with the crossbar clamps too to look like the original Silver Twinwalls. New Motion Pro tube, OEM cables.

Had some seat patches replicated from the 01 PC seat (thanks to Ryan Lester for measuring up his original for me). Bought Guts gripper seat sheet and made up a new seat cover with the patches sewn on. New seat foam from Strike Seats. Also drilled out and fitted larger stainless rivets with washers to the seat brackets as an upgrade to OEM that used to rip out.

They took 2 months to have custom made but worth the wait - Samco hose set made in ‘Classic Black’ which is a satin finish with stamped in logos (not white transfers). OEM+ look but best performance.

They do custom orders like this? I’m a super fan of the OEM+ vibe.

Outstanding work as always.

What C.D said, ProX is used by some great mechanics for project builds (some former factory mechanics).

And even OEM was used for some factory race teams bikes in the last era of them.

OEM - ProX - Wössner (Wössner) for my application (Wössner f.e) use 4340 steel alloys for their connecting rods.

Last little project, Titanium brake tip that I’ve fabbed up and re-rivetted on. Inspired by the HRC bikes.
