New SMX Numberplate Backgrounds

The color of the yellow has a greenish tint. That could just be an instagram filter, but I love that theyre bringing this back to pay homage to the old camel sx days. They need to just tweak the color a smidge. 
 

The ama has said that if jett becomes the points leader hell still run the red plate. They run white numbers on the red plate so I wonder if maybe theyll run gold numbers or something to show he has both plates. They could also go mxgp style and have a different front plate than the sides. Run the red plate on the front and blue on the sides.  Id have to see a photoshop of what this would look like but it would probably look cool. 

Are these for the SMX champ only? So Deegan will have the same thing?

Theyve been using the blueish purple and lime green color for all the SMX stuff. 

I like it but I'm a sucker for purple 

Kills the look of the Honda but I do like the concept. Just wish it wasn’t a purple/lime green color combo.

It's going to take a bit to adjust to. I'm at the point where the red plate with white number looks good on all the bikes. I'm not sure neon yellow-green on purple or red background is going to look good on any of them for a while.

I wish they used the Phub orange and black for the SMX colors...that would look good! 

Not a fan of the colors but would be more than proud to run those ugly colors if I was racing SMX

Thats cool that they considered how to change it when someone has both plates. 
 

Could someone photoshop jetts bike to show what it would look like with red plates and the gold numbers? 
 

Also could someone photoshop his bike to have the normal red plate white number on the front and the blue/gold plate on the side? 
 

I’m very interested to see which version looks best. I kind of feel like running both plates would make it much more noticeable for fans when a rider has both plates, where from the sx stands it may be hard to see the gold numbers on a blue background.

It will grow on people. I do like that the colors are similar to the old wrangler  grand champ colors. Just tweaked a little bit. I think it will  help give the SMX series some more credibility and get it talked about more. Every time somebody sees Jett's bike or Deegan's bike they will be reminded of SMX. And people will be talking about it like we are all on here. Explaining  to or asking  others what's up with the plate colors. I know its a simple thing. But it forsure will be a constant reminder of the SMX element. 

Personally I'm on the fence about likening it or not . It looks different in each photo so its hard to really know the colors yet. The more yellowish on dark blue way it looks in the first post looks better to me than the green and purple look in the repost of DC's post. Either Way though it will grow on people. I was not really into the red and white plates when RC started to run them . But like others have said , those grew on me. Now I like how they look. Its cool to see some simple , relatively small and easy to change things tried out.

I like it, when we heard about it a few months ago it sounded like they’d only run it for smx not all year round.   I’m not sure on the red with yellow but I like the blue yellow throwback.

Running it for the 3 SMX races cool, running it all season seems gimmicky to me. I guess at least they don’t make them run a 1smx plate all year…

In SMX it will. There are 3 champions: SX, MX and now SMX. Each one has its own #1 plate but the SMX champ runs these backgrounds all year. 

I really like the colors and they contrast perfectly imo but I believe it will make it hard for casual or new fans to understand all the different number plate combos…

Lame.  Outdoor mx will always be the crown jewel of this sport.  A 3 race series means nothing.
