Whats the best way to get a little more power out of this thing without breaking the bank.. or the bike? Mapping? I'm probably in the minority but I like how quiet the stock exhaust is and would like to keep it on. Rode a 23.5 gas gas 450 and liked how the motor pulled a bit further on top. Off the bottom it felt about the same as the KX.

Had a Yoshi, lots of torque, builds power like a diesel truck. FMF with short header, free revving, runs better on top. Both are better than stock.

You’ll be back.  If you’re buying a zero turn, chances are 50/50 it’ll be a Kawasaki engine powering it.

LOL!

This hits home! I got a new Kubota zero-turn and was pleasantly surprised to see a Kawasaki twin in it. Mower

@Sandusky26 call kawi & see if you can buy a crate motor...you could maybe sell some of the parts out of this blown motor if any are decent. Explain to kawi what happened & see what the price is. Virtually 0 work compared to rebuilding a whole motor & every single part is new. It should be good for 1-2 years depending how much you ride. Worth an ask. If they sell it to you at cost or close it'd be well worth it.

I would buy a crate motor, but I don't want to spend 4k on a bike that's worth 4500. I think I have someone who wants to buy the whole bike. I have a buddy who wants the FMF and spare subframe. I'll take the ECU and my spare wheel and swap it to a 24.

Has anyone had any issues with the drain bolt? Was changing my oil and noticed instead of loosening the bolt with my fingers I had to use a little bit of force with a 1/4 ratchet. The threads on the bolt looked a bit jacked up and rolled over. I ended up replacing the steel stock one with a Moose racing aluminum magnetic bolt. The aluminum bolt felt great in the case threads. Anxious to see how the threads feel removing it next oil change. Only issue I've had with this entire bike in 20 hours and definitely scared me a bit.

I’ve had that happen before but usually if I use a new drain bolt it’s butter smooth

How many hours on average have you guys been getting on your 22 KX450 clutches?

I am a clutch abuser I think.  I do not only use the throttle to control the power I often use the clutch to do so also. 🫣😂

im not sure if I need a clutch. But I’m just curious how much wear I have on mine at almost 12 hrs.

Also how do you guys know when it needs replacing. Or should I ask “What is the most obvious sign it needs to be replaced?”

My SR has so much power it’s kinda hard for me to notice much clutch wear so far.  I kinda want it to have a fresh clutch in it when I purchase the 2024 450 so I can get a true comparison between the 2.

I’d say around 25-35 hours on the stock clutch.   Recluse torque drive kit…..double that

I have almost 100 on mine, all of it motocross.  Still works fine for me, but I’m not a clutch abuser.

Me on the other hand replace my clutches a lot 😂 I use Hinson & am a sponsored rider so at a good price point I typically throw a new one in a ride or 2 before big races. I would say on average run a clutch 15-20 hours. Maybe less if I feel it slipping. I can typically tell if it’s slipping very easily at a track like Glen Helen.

Clutches are a wear & tear item. When the clutch wears out it’s now running the entire motor at higher rpm’s to go the same speed, runs hotter & harder. Engine won’t last as long.

if you have 40 or more hours on a clutch replace it (even if you don’t think it’s slipping) & you’ll immediately notice a significant difference in power.

That actually makes sense.  I’ve never replaced a clutch before it started slipping.  Maybe I should.

Having worked on your clutches before, you need to downshift Tongue
