plug that into maps and park there. the trail will lead you to the best sand track in pa.
Still good to park there?
Man, that's a pretty long drive from the other end of the state.. LOL
haha me and a buddy we’re gonna come and ride switchback and i seen that’s only about 45 mins away.
Mx acres in fredonia pa. Located just outside of Mercer pa. Will open back up in the spring time.
There's a new practice-only track out in the hills, alongside Keystone lake. Rural valley address. Real jumpy, big stuff. Always tilled deep. 2min + lap times. Look up Adrenaline Ridge MX on Facebook.
heck yeah i will defiantly have to take my son out to hillsville and check it out. always heard of that place, we use to have a big boony dump in Northen Cambria called K&k it was always great for early spring ridding but it is now all gone. Beside going to the track all the time look into getting a membership at breezewood proving grounds this time of year you pay $700 and you can ride anytime you want all year from march to december for 2024.
I see plenty of dirt bikes/quads at the track in philly. Mostly a turn track and flat.
Behind firework store in hillsville is now private property and you will get towed.
Pit Row
So where's the secret parking spot now?
Any other sand tracks in Pa. ? Or tracks with step ups on a side of a hill dropping into valleys ? I would think there would b since Pa. Is all big hills & valleys. I,m thinking about moving to Altoona Pa. By i99 . Beautiful area there to Somerset is like your in a post card . Super old cool lookin everything & cheap rent ,ymca to pt the bod in Altoona. Much better weather instead of a few weeks of the yr. I,ve been to hundreds of Pa. Towns there all cool looking. Had a terminal in ETown yrs ago. Or n of Rockford but in Wi. A few great tracks easy to get to and a few lakes. I like to b near water. Pa. Doesn’t hv many lakes if I run out west it really bothers me that there is no lakes or water. Both areas hv the same jobs , line haul with doubles & hourly day cab LTL.
For what it's worth, the weather may be better than Green Bay, Wisconsin but it still absolutely sucks. As for sand, I think you'll find more rocks in that area. You'd be probably 45 minutes to Pleasure Valley, maybe an hour to a practice track called The Oak, and 45 minutes to a semi-private practice track called Mountain Top. Rocket MX a little over an hour. Doublin Gap under 2 hours. Promised Land is across the border into Maryland, maybe a couple hours. Never spent any time in Toon Town itself but there are some nice towns surrounding State College. Raystown Lake is nearby and has a whole purpose built mountain bike trail system too.
All that being said, as a Pennsylvanian, I'd say go further South or West if it's an option. The Carolinas have way better weather but still have elevation and seasons, and lakes. Colorado has a legit winter but it's not as dreary and shitty as PA and there is so much riding and other outdoor activities, and you can still find water. I was just out there near Red Rocks Amphitheater and I drove by 2 lakes with people swimming in one and wakeboarding in the other. Visited a buddy and he can ride right out of his garage and freeride like a million acres of public land or go to several tracks close by.
