I think I've got this.

*People who come from nothing and create their wealth from opportunities within the sport itself, like the Lawrences and the Deegans are doing, are bad for the sport; whereas people like the Carmichaels and the Stewarts, who did pretty much the exact same thing, are actually good for the sport.

*There's too much big money floating around now and that's bad for the privateers, and there's no where near enough big money floating around now and that's bad for the privateers.

*Electric bikes will increase the number people who participate in the sport, thereby increasing the overall interest in it, which will kill it off entirely, because the only way to open your eyes and seize the future is to close your eyes and live in the past.

*Star Yamaha, Triumph, and Ducati, will all be fielding black bikes, thereby quenching a debilitating thirst for black bikes no one actually had but will soon begin to admit to having.

Yup - makes perfect sense.

Excuse me, Hayden Deegan definitely did not 'come from nothing', nor did Brian.

If you say so, chief.

It all depends on how much you see "nothing" as being, I suppose.

I'll admit, I don't follow the Deegans or the Lawrences all that closely, so I've got no dog in this hunt.

So my next question, when can privateers and the other players offer vip stuff and sell things in the pits??

He jumps the same jumps and goes around the same corners as everyone else.  Plenty of amateurs have advantages, but there is no avoiding the work

For the record, Seven Deuce Deuce was doing "Privateer VIP Experiences" years ago! I saw him at either Anaheim or Vegas and he had the person in the pits with him, gave him the first class treatment and everything! Who wouldn't pay good money to help out and hang out with Adam Enticknap all day!!!!!

Here is what I don't understand, and I could be wrong.

The Lawrence brothers seem like some of the most approachable, likeable riders, and they are both damn fast.  So, they, or Honda, come up with a VIP program, which isn't intended for EVERYONE to be able to afford.  If it was, it would be called meet and greet.  I don't give a rats a$$ how much they charge.  If I want to spend that to meet them, so be it.  Why the hell should anyone else care?

Also, why does anyone care if Jett buys a Bently, Rolls Royce, Ferari, etc?  It's his money and he earned it.  Why should he care what you think about how he spends it?  To me, I think this will just give kids an example of what they can buy if they work harder and become a factory rider.  Will they?  Probably not, the VAST majority don't, but it will give the kids goals and something to work for.  Most kids today just want handouts and to sit in front of their video games.

Feld forcing privateers to sell merch through them is complete BS, but show me a professional sport that isn't handled like that.  Privateers just have to get creative and find ways around Feld.

Off my soap box.  Enjoy!

We get it, you don’t like the Deegans.

But let’s be real clear, there ain’t a single person lining up for a race that came from “nothing”. People who have nothing don’t have $$ to buy a dirt bike.  Anyone participating in this sport lives a pretty privileged life by most standards.

You keep posting this but won't answer the question of what is coming from nothing to you? Give us an example of someone who has....Pretty sure Brian's dad was rolling with hookers and blow on that high school principal salary back in the day....coming from that to where he is now was a large hill to climb to reach the success he has....what hill have you climbed to get to your unsuccessful career of hating on people you don't know....

Leaving aside your personal insults, I would say coming 'from nothing' would mean coming from poverty - properly understood.  For example, growing up in inner city housing projects, or in a trailer park, or at the bare minimum a working class background with a low paid job.  Brian Deegan knows what he's doing with what he says.  He's a marketing man, an ad man. He knows what kind of picture he's trying to paint when he says he 'comes from nothing'.  That is why he is a phoney.  If you admire the erosion of truth in favor of selling a few more t-shirts or gaining a few more clicks that's up to you.

He jumps the same jumps and goes around the same corners as everyone else.  Plenty of amateurs have advantages, but there is no avoiding the work

Saying Brian didn't 'come from nothing' has nothing to do with Haiden's riding abilities.  He's an elite level talent with a strong work ethic.  Provided he had the bare minimum of support that any top amateur gets, he would have got to where he has anyway.

Just to clear this up.  I have no problems with Haiden.  My problem is with Brian, I think he's a manipulative phoney.  The fact that he was a big part of freestyle 'motocross' only makes me dislike him further.  I can't stand FMX and think it has done nothing for the sport of motocross/supercross.  Why do you think it is that so many people when asked about motocross start talking about backflips etc?

A high school principle is still Middle class ,

no one comes from the below the poverty line to be top of mx , which can happen in stock and ball sports

and the Lawrence’s although  risking it all to go to Europe were not in the bones of their ass either

this is not a knock on either , to get to the top of this sport you need to work your ass off , with or with our big money behind you

F-me! So many pissy-posters in here that would give their left nut to…

Own a Ferrari

Fly private

Have…STRIKE THAT, actually EARN a Factory Ride

Have a Red Bull helmet deal

Ride for HRC-Honda

But, all they can do is come in here and bitch about 2 Aussie-boys that actually went out and EARNED EVERY F’ING ONE OF THOSE THINGS.

Now, thru several channels, they share their life, wins, scar tissue and hilarity with a rather wide slice of moto-fans…

And y’all STILL come on here and BITCH?!

Let you on in a little secret: at every one of those races where someone may have the audacity to pay for an extremely awesome fan experience…BOTH of The Brothers Lawrence will be signing Free Posters for ANY fan that lines up for one. Also…BOTH brothers are engaging and sincere when they talk to another rider or fan…ANY fan…ANY rider…whenever I’ve seen them around their fans, I’ve noticed this.

So, there’s always that.

Here’s to some of you pulling that pineapple out and having a great New Year.

Maybe maybe not but I certainly can't think of anybody in this sport that has come from nothing...now when Brian started doing FMX he probably didn't have anything...pretty sure he didn't own a home or had much saved in the bank and his net worth was his van, his bike and the clothes on his back, maybe that's what he means when he says that....what I do know there are certainly many riders and their families that have risked it all to become champions but there are also those along the trail that lost everything too...My reason for the question to Herr was for him to give an example of a pro that actually came from nothing.....but his truth came out when he said he hates FMX so he hates Brian without ever meeting or talking to him...

So you hate Brian and FMX....and that hate is so strong that you have to jump in every Deegan thread and comment negatively? TBH I was never a fan of Jason Lawrence, thought he was nothing but a punk but I don't jump into every JLaw thread and hate on him...it's a waste of energy.

Just to clear this up.  I definitely don't hate Brian, hate is a very strong word.  Also, you can dislike someone's actions and ways of doing things in some arenas, without necessarily disliking everything about them.  I'm sure Brian is a nice enough person, and should I ever come to meet him, I'd come in with an open mind.

So you never met him, got it.

When I was jett's age I was full time college student and employed full time as well making about 24k per year and I dropped around 20k on bitching home theater and stereo setup all on credit cards. It was pretty stupid and my parents had to help me out a little about a year later but I turned out fine and learned some lessons.

If Jett had a worthless bachelor's degree and 150k in student loan debt living in his parents basement half of America would consider him to be a successful young adult well on his way. Forget that crap. Money is meant to be spent and enjoyed, it's not a baby blanket that you cling to for comfort. Hope he beats the hell out of those cars and has huge smile on his face the whole time.

So much jealousy in this thread and most of you don't see it at all.

That's exactly what Brian means Don.

Brian's pops being a school principal had enough to get his kid racing MX. Later on Brian did well enough to bag himself sponsors and his pops could step back financially.

When Brian walked away from competition in MX and SX he had very little, a van, some bikes and gear. His Pops did not fund his FMX ventures. That was all Brian's doing. He saw a gap and took it. Social media? He got that figured to and look at them now.

It's pretty fucking lame...and sad to see the nastiness come out of folk which can't appreciate what Brian and Dazzi pulled off.

The stories between the Deegans and the Lawrence's are different. We cannot overlook the fact that when one has a plan, then puts in the hours and the kids work their assses off then the results would come.

We should all step back and think about the old saying..."Jealousy makes you Nasty"

Why else would people hate on a success story?
