Here’s the guts of 2024 KX450 muffler: two screens in the perf-core and a stamped baffle (not removable but could be pressed flush or cut/modified).

Not sure I wanna Guinea Pig this muffler by cutting screens or modding baffle, concerned about effect on back pressure possibly hurting performance.

Thoughts? For anyone that’s cut out screens, modded baffle on this or another bike are there any gains? If so where?

I removed the sreens and flattened out the stamped baffle. It ran great with no issues. Note the end cap is made from steel not aluminum like the rest of the can. Packing was thin and could have used much more to fill the many voids.

Leave the side cover off start the bike and blip the throttle and watch your air filter suck into the air box. Twin air will come out with a bracing cage that will prevent this.

Think Keefer said you can overwrite map 2 also if currently selected map is map 2 when you upload new map.

So if above is true then would map 1 be a stronger version of map 2 automatically (reverse of what you’re saying)?

So put that pin # in the app, bumped the starter, did a scan and it found it no problem - success

Loaded a map, says it’s overwriting etc., all good… here’s where it’s odd, there is no “save” after this writing, when you back out of that page it will ask you to save. There’s a lot of this in the app, no save until you back page

As all this is going on, uploading, the blue and green lights on the map/TC/kill switch are flashing, ok cool something is in process… now save in the app (back out and it will ask) all good, but the lights keep flashing, with no idea if new map is really IN there and lights flashing prob till batt dead, I tried kill sw, nope, ok, bump starter, lights went out. Success?! No clue because even though there is a “detail” and “gauge” in the app it doesn’t show what map by name (you can name them) is in there

note: there are Kawasaki street bike YouTube vids for that app, but nothing for the KX version of the app

New info: There’s a gear top left of app on “home page”, in there you will find help/tutorial and FAQ… the first time I used this app and selected Tutorial or FAQ the page was blank, dunno if server is slow or what, waited and waited and pages eventually loaded (also try rebooting app)

There’s some good info in the Tutorial/FAQ but still not the best guide, one thing I learned is to stop blinking lights you can hit kill sw but gotta HOLD 2 sec (I bumped starter to get them out) - edited for a 3rd time 12 Dec: You can get lights out with kill sw, but it’s longer than 2 sec, just keep pushing till out

Cant believe Kawasaki couldn't release the app in a more polished state. And without the current silly limitations of only a single map upload (is that an ECU limitation that can be addressed later?). Not hard to investigate what Yamaha has been doing for the last how many years and implement similar or better. Geez.

I am sure updates will come, but being heavily involved in the software development space, I am perplexed. The app is not complex!

It’s not a big floppy filter, doesn’t suck in. Can’t wait for twin air to put something out. Needs more filter volume, proper cage and so on.

Cant believe Kawasaki couldn't release the app in a more polished state. Having worked with developers for a third of my professional life I had the exact same rant. It’s not even beta worthy. 
It does crudely get the job done, like a pair of pliers subbing for a wrench, able to connect, create, and load maps.

They’ve had the street bike version for a while, haven’t looked at that app but from the YouTube vids looks better. Soooo, can’t leverage that? Probably maybe a good reason.

I have created a new airfilter cage if anyone is  interested . I also have a video of it without  a screen sucking in if you're curious . 
 

I should have some with bracing available next week for shipment .

Imgn design co just did a whole kit for me. I also own Moto Freakz and do vented number plates if anyone is interested. 🤘🏼🤘🏼loving my 2024 so far!

Congrats on the new bike; well done. PS: Always grease em’ when fresh! Steering stem and linkage likely quite dry…Don’t forget to re-oil AF too as they can be marginal from dealerships/the factory.

Just greased mine yesterday and of course it needed it, but for the first time, it had some form of lubrication on the bearings.  Almost seemed like a higher viscosity motor oil?

Pipes are in pc had a waiting list and I put my name on it and they called me within a week.  
 

yes it helps with bottom end power for those wondering along with other parts of the power range.

IMG 0205Kawasaki KX250 LightSpeed carbon plate fits up fairly easily if you’re handy in the garage…Needed minor trimming on the back bottom corners to clear the longer 24’ welds of the frame rails and an M6x25mm button-head on the water pump side, that’s it! They may do the mods if you call them directly; probably won’t advertise a consumer spec until they have a dedicated 2024 version early next year though

The CRM Carbon plates from the 19-23 fit pretty good. You do need to trim it little in the water pump area to clear the head pipe but it’s not a big deal. Lightspeed fits really well as well. On the Lightspeed one I found it rubbed the water pipe pipe a little so I would probably clearance that a bit. Lightspeed will have the 2024 model in production in Late January. I have seen a pic of it and it looks really good.
