So this happened to my kid earlier this year at Albany MX. No fists were thrown, but I did go talk to the kid and his "supervisor" later since his parents weren't there. Told him that we allow this one time (still not 100% sure if there was intent or if he just ran out of talent) but that if he did it again there would be consequences. He wouldn't look me in the eye, and didn't say much, but it hasn't happened again. Sorry no yellow shirts or anything, maybe next time.

You threatened someone elses kid with "consequences" over a racing incident and just admitted it publicly on this forum? A racing incident that looked pretty benign to me. You should be banned from the track for that.
Regardless of what happens between kids on the track, there should be zero tolerance for parents going after a kid....verbal threats or physical contact (kid or bike).
Didn't throw a fit. Saw it as an educational moment for a young rider. That was it. No threats were made in any form. It's C class, and riders make mistakes all over the place. Best to learn from them and not repeat them. Sheesh, drama much?
Drama round 2. If you raced in the PNW you'd know the reputation I and my son have at the tracks. Every mistake has consequences - welcome to life. In this case the consequence was a short discussion about avoiding unnecessary contact when you can. The next step should it happen again with the same rider would be a formal complaint to the Race Director. That's a consequence too.
Not sure if anyone on here remembers "Wirehead" Jones from TN in the 90's. He was fast "vet" pro ,before there were any Vet classes. He just raced A class all the time and did pretty damn good as a 40 YO at the time. Then one day at track in Madison County NC, a fast 15 yo kid on a YZ125 lined up against wirehead in the first pro moto. Wirehead got the holeshot and a battle ensued. About 4 laps in , the kid passed wirehead, but took out his front tire in the process. Jones went down but immediately was back up on the bike and in HOT pursuit, Dukes Of Hazzard style. He never caught the kid by the checkered flag. After the moto, we all thought Jones was coming up to the kid to say nice job. Instead , he ripped the goggles off the kids helmet and punched him twice in the face, bloodying the kids nose. Then he just walked off to his truck and went about his business. NOTHING was done about it. He wasnt even disqualified ,nor any charges pressed. It would be hard not to shoot a mfkr that did that to my kid at a track back then. But i was still a kid myself. Wirehead was even allowed to ride the 2nd moto. Of course the kid couldnt continue, probably had a broken nose. This was shit wirehead had done many times as far as taking people out to pass. Happened all the time in that era. But , he didnt like it when someone did it to him.
This video makes it look like the kid on the outside came to a complete stop in the corner, lost his balance, and cut down the middle.

I sure as hell I'm glad my dad didn't run over to other peoples pits every time some kid took me out (on purpose or by accident).

A lot of people in that video, including the assailant, have put on a few hundred "off season" pounds.
My favorite part of these vids is when the yoked bald guy shows up and forces everyone to calm down or suffer the consequences.

Not trying to be a dick and I don't know you from any other random guy, but man if I operate a track, everyone's fees are the same come race day. If the race officials don't deem the on-track action worthy of penalty, I'd be damned if I'm going to penalize another rider because another rider's daddy gets upset. And in all honesty, if you think your "reputation" means that people will listen to what you have to say and you're willing to leverage that, I'm not sure that's the coolest.
And watching the video, you should teach your son to protect the inside when he's racing. I ain't the fastest but even on practice days I protect the inside because I don't need some practice track pro block passing me.
Only time I see any real heated flare ups in the PNW is at the WHR arenacross rounds lmao
Oh yeah, mine learned a lesson too. He left the door open through bad race craft and paid a price. He doesn't do that anymore. These are all kids trying to learn. I guess the point I was trying to make is that there are other ways to deal with the inevitable contact besides going ballistic on a kid. Even if the contact is flagrant and intentional you can't go after a kid. And if you punch out his Dad you set yourself up for an assault charge. We just race for fun, and we always keep that in mind.
I'm thinking everybody is forgetting this is a contact sport always has been. You can't T-Bone somebody from behind but if you have a front wheel on somebody all is good🤷♂️

Best chill if ever think your son has a chance to do something, even locally. Parents around these parts have cost their kids support due to actions when they raced or how they acted in the pits. That stuff sticks with you…
Best fight I ever saw was between two dads at a Monroe AX around 1993 or so. Intermediate 1 takes out Intermediate 2. 2’s dad throws dirt on 1 next time around. 1’s dad then haymakers dad 2. 1 and 2 pull off track after checkers, look at both dads in a pile in the dirt punching each other, shake their heads, and continue into the pits.
Dad didn’t fight my battles for me. Instead, my instructions were the same as school-don’t ever start a fight, but if someone bring it to you, kick their ass. In school, it was literally. On the track, it meant finding that person and putting them over a berm hard enough they never pulled that shit again.
Im pretty tolerant of aggressive racing. But cross-jump me or ride dirty on purpose (when you had a clean option instead) and you’ll get a close look at the backside grooming of the berm.
Oh, regarding the video…all I’ll say is that I bet everyone in it flies Spirit Airlines…
