the Baja 1000 started early this morning. The 1x team on a 2024 KTM 450fsx is leading, barley. 3x on a Husky FE501 is second and 7X Mark Samuels on a Honda 450x is running third physically. All close on time. With the sun coming up now they are at mile 385 of 1300 miles. Here is a link to Score. You can click on live tracking
Thanks !
Live timing showing 1x around mile 300, I’m guessing that’s a glitch?
Looks like 3x and 7x are starting to check out. I'd expect 7x to win pretty comfortably if nothing happens, they are the only team that has true top tier talent that I'm aware of.
What team is Clayton Roberts on? Any other super fast dudes on his team?
Just answered my own question, he's on the 3x.

looks like 1x, 3x, and 7x are all swapping back and forth. I wonder if the top guys kind of ride in a bunch and wait till the end to really sprint.
Probably some serious strategy involved for sure. 1,300 miles in one shot is so stinkin' far to race.
Is 1x tracker working again?
I'm pulling for 7x myself, I love what Mark has done with his whole team and it'd be cool to see Kamo put another W on his resume.
1x looks like either his timing transponder thing isn't working or he has stopped moving...
1X @ RM525 @ 9:42AM PST and leading by a hair.
Next is 3x Ciaran Naran followed by 7x Mark Samuels about 3 miles behind the lead.
Exciting race leading up to half way.
Mostly just hoping for a safe ride for EVERYONE.
Yesterday was 10 years since we lost KC66.
Yes, there has been overnight rain which can lead to massive erosion. This is another lethal hazard that competitors will face this year. Pray everyone gets through safe.
1x tracker is not working fyi. Lead Ironman are at mile 365 now, 10:08 am pacific
EDIT, 7X leading on time

Ya'll heard about this Aussie (741x) racing ironman?
Hard to get 100% good info but from what I've gathered he flew to the US, bought a bike, rode it down to the start from San Diego and is now leading the Ironman class at Race Mile 480.
Do I have that right?
What an epic story!
there is also a paraplegic racing from Italy. He has a cage around his bike. He came with just two other dudes to chase for him. Last I heard he was at mile 500!
Wow!
Kyle Tischner races ISDE last week on a club team, and Baja 1000 today (if I’m reading this correctly…and I could be wrong)…that’s pretty impressive.
Ugh….
Kade Walker, 7x/SLR team, is down at mile 822. Helicopter is in route to get him according to Facebook.
Hoping for the best….
I was wondering how he was doing. Hopefully he'll be alright.
Pit Row
It sounds pretty serious. I’m literally sick to my stomach and I’ve never even met the kid. Really really really hope he’s ok.
Pro Moto Baja Racing FB Group has some posts from folks in the know if anyone wants to try to keep up.
Someone posted that the helicopter dropped off a doctor and left because they can't fly at night.
Going to be transported by vehicle.
They dropped a medic off to a chase truck that was trying to work its way down to the 7X. While that was going on, the rider was able to get in a UTV and was getting hauled out. Sounds like his condition isn't quite as bad as it seemed at first.
That’s good news.
It's gone a bit sideways again. UTV broke down. One of the trophy truck team's chase crew is trying to go retrieve him now and hopefully get him to an ambulance.
Someone on Race-dezert is saying McMillin team got him to a medic.

I saw somewhere on FB or IG that he is back in the states at a Hospital.
6+ hours to get medical help in the year 2023 is unacceptable. SCORE needs to be better. They should be fucking ashamed.
Isn't this literally the exact thing the KC66 foundation has been trying to work on? Not sure if more timely medical care would have saved Kurt, but it might have... You're completely right. Score needs to address this lack of available medical help or stop running this race for bikes and quads. Yes, I know these racers know the risk, yes they are aware of where they are racing but come on, can't these promoters partner with some medivac companies (air-med, lifeflight, wings of rescue etc. ) to have choppers stationed every 200 miles or a long the course ready to respond to a call? Shit, many of the top $$$ teams run choppers to follow their driver/rider around for the sake of mechanical help, yet someone crashes and they have to rely on another racer to toss them into their race vehicle to get them closer to help. Wtf
