I’ve been using red no toil air filter oil for years now and haven’t really had any issues with it. I have noticed that some of it does end up in the bottom of the air box and have even seen some of the oil in the intake. I don’t ride much these days so I don’t go through it as much as I use to. I bought a new jug of it last fall and used it a couple times, and it sat in the garage all winter. I just oiled a filter for the first time last weekend so it would be ready for practice this weekend. On Thursday I notice a puddle of oil under the bike and it was the filter oil. It had ran out of the bottom of the air box and was all over the swing arm. I oiled it just like every other filter I’ve done- lightly coated the filter, worked it in and squeezed out the excess. I pulled the seat off and the filter almost looked dry. Could the oil have gone bad that fast??? I’ve used the stuff for years but am really contemplating switching. I can’t say I’ve really had issues with it but the stuff just does not seem as tacky as traditional filter oil which always bothered me.

It hasn't gone bad, it was just over oiled and can run off a little.
I have the same experience with No Toil, only way to keep the filter tacky is to oil it the night before so it doesn't have time to dry out. I'm very happy with Twin Air oil, I completely soak the filter and it never leaves a puddle.
I can honestly say it wasn’t over oiled… I oiled it the same way I’ve been doing it for years. And what really bothered me is when I looked at the filter it looked dry and when I touched it, it wasn’t tacky at all and there was almost no oil on my fingers. It’s like it just turned to water and it all just ran off the filter. I really shook it up too before I applied it to make sure it was mixed.
I used the stuff for years and then I started having the same issue with the last bottle I bought. 24 hours after oiling most of the oil was in the bottom of the air box. I also had a couple of filters disintegrate when washed. I stopped using the red and went to the green. The green seems to work pretty well, but I have also been using Twin Air bio, which work well also. I like being able to clean the filters up with water. I think it works better than solvents.

I use the no-toil green oil on my filters and clean it with oxy clean (apparently oxyclean has the same main ingredient as the no-toil cleaner) and it works great.
Does the TwinAir bio oil wash out with the no-toil cleaner? What do you use to clean your filters?
Thanks!
Yes I have been using oxy clean for years, works great. I love the system but I think I might end up switching to maxima or something like that. I know the cleaning process is a little more difficult and expensive but, I’m not riding as much as I use to so I don’t think the cost will be a problem. Plus, if I let the bike sit for a couple weeks it will be nice to not worry about the filter oil running off the filter.
Yes, the same cleaner seems to work for both (I just use the No-toil cleaner and a drip or two of Dawn), but the twin air stuff doesn't seem like it wants to come out with cold water. I use warm to hot water with it, which is what they recommend. But I only use it on Twin Air filters because they can handle the hot water. On my DT1 filters I use the green No-Toil because the DT1 don't like hot water. They come apart in hot water.
From my experience, "Oxyclean" does not work well with Twinair Bio-oil.
I had the same problem with the red but I honestly think I was over oiling, I now use the green oil it let it dry in the sun for a bit and no dripping. I switch to the green because it is non flammable in case of a backfire.
Warmer weather also makes it run down into the airbox more often than when it was cool out.
i use dt1 which is really tacky, and I have that issue every once in a while
Ryan from No-Toil here!
What you are describing should definitely not be happening. I'll shoot you a private message and get your contact information. I'd love to get that bottle of oil back for further investigation, if you still have it. As others mentioned too much filter oil can cause it to migrate with varying temperatures. BUT, it should never run through the filter as your describing. In the meantime we'll get you taken care of with a few fresh bottles of oil & cleaner!
PS, here at No-Toil we'll always do what we can to accommodate all customers! Never hesitate to reach out.
That’s solid customer service. You don’t see that very often these days 👍
I had a couple of no toil filters come apart after reasonable usage and they were awesome, sending me all new filters plus a couple spare.
Great company and I've been a customer for two decades
I’ve been using No Toil green for many years. Never an issue on multiple brands. Great product. Easy clean up.
PM sent. Thank you!
Ryan at No Toil is possibly the best person in the industry! They ALWAYS take care of any reasonable issue. I have been using them for years, never had an issue. There customer service is unmatched and being a small family owned business, they have me as a customer for life!
Bump, does anyone have contact with Ryan.? I've been having issues with the oil running off, and it seems it's not isolated incident.
Not here to bash or complain, customer for 20 years and they have amazing service... just noticed a few people seeing the oil run off the filters... wonder if they've changed recipe or process?
I'm having this same issue. even after a week, I'm still getting a new puddle of oil under my bike . tried to send a pm to Ryan and the forum wont let me for some reason, not sure if its his messaging settings or mine. anyone else getting that message or any other way of contacting no toil on this issue?

I heard Ryan is no longer with no-toil. I’m not trying to be negative about no toil, seems like they truly care about their customers but, even if they send you a replacement, it will do the same thing, that was my experience anyways, and I know I’m not the only one. Id have to guess they have possibly made some changes in their product or their process because it was never this bad.
If I were you I’d just make the switch to a different product. I never wanted to change because no toil was so easy, but other products aren’t bad at all to clean. And now I have a nicely oiled and tacky air filter instead of a nicely oiled air box, swing arm, and garage floor.
What is No Toil availability in States currently?
Seems to be quite hard to get here in northern Europe. Only have small bottle left and many resellers have been out of stock since ~January and it's often same story every year
No issues here, just bought a bunch to restock. Also have been using the red stuff for years with no issues/runoff.
