KX100 Transmission oil color

Is this a normal color after one ride after changing oil. New to me 2017 KX100.

No racing, new bike for my 12 year old. This was his first ride and first 2 stroke ,so lots of clutch work getting use to bike.

No 2017.  Previous owner stated less than 30hrs on bike, but who knows. It does look almost brand new on the outside though. However, he never did top end and when I drained oil when I got it home, it looked similar to what I show in pic. 

If the clutch is being used heavily the oil will discolor quickly from the fibers.

Ok thanks. I’ll probably just order new clutch plates anyway.

Also since I don’t have a compression baseline when with new top end, any value in compression testing? Or should I just rebuild top end to be safe?

Does the oil smelled like burned clutch ? if not don't bother with clutch plates but if you replace the top end and clutch plates then you know everything is new and ready to go.

Looks like totally normal used tranny oil in a 2 stroke to me.

 

On a small bore 2 stroke, top end rebuild is pretty darn simple and cheap.  That's a lot of years on a stock top end.  I'd look at replacing it.  Clutch plates are cheap and easy too.

There’s not really any way to put a transmission oil cooler on a two stroke as there is no oil pump. I mean anything is possible. You could put an electric oil pump and cooler on it but it would be completely infeasible and unpractical. Just use a good high quality transmission oil for motorcycles and change it frequently.

Does the manual give a 'spec' minimum acceptable compression?

Otherwise hopefully someone can chime in with experience. 185-200psi is mentioned on ThumperTalk, sounds about right.
