Anyone here have any experience with a tm 300 4stroke? Found a smoking price on a new 23 thinking on picking up. Yes flame on about the retro 93’ bubblegum plastics haha. I have owned a 16 300 twostroke which did not go very well.
What issues did you have with your 16?
What’s the price?
At around 15-25 hours (can’t remember it was in 16) the bike shut off on me and had no spark. Check a few things and finally took the ignition cover off to find it was full of rusty stagnant water. Bike had 3 dry summertime southern US harescrambles on it and only been ridden at my place which has zero water crossings. The importer didn’t want to help with anything and said I should take the ignition cover off and put a new gasket every time I ride. Tried to blame pressure washing on it which I didn’t have at the time. Dealer ended up fixing for half labor cost but I was into quite a bit of money for the parts on a month old bike. Which water does not usually smell that bad and stagnant after a month old. It was a weird deal. Didn’t have the bike for a month or two and when I got it back I could never get it to run close to as good as before. Before all that the bike was awesome

It looks like it was made for the Barbie movie!
I would kick around the idea of getting a TM two stroke, but I would never consider buying a four stroke from them. There is a horror story on youtube about a guy in the usa who bought a TM four stroke. In summary, the bike grenaded at 30 hours. No one helped him get parts and he was told that there weren't parts available for the bike. Instead of helping him find parts, the importer told him the best he could do was buy the bike as scrap for like $3k. I would at the minimum make sure crank, piston, valves, cam chain is available before going through with it. You can also get leftover gas gas for the same price or less
There's no current importer for tm's in the u.s. right now another one of their issues. That has to slow down getting parts possibly. Aftermarket parts are nearly non existent for these bikes. Especially engine stuff.
There's a reason why it's so discounted they can't sell it. You'll end up doing the same. Most people won't deal with tm biggest reason is lack of support.
I myself see tm as a failing motorcycle brand.
I've sort of entertained getting a TM two stroke. Nice suspension and would be a unique bike to take to a woods race. You could get the cylinder replated and head polished every now and then. Pistons probably available from someone. A few calls / emails to europe could likely get you main bearings or other small items needed. But as far as buying a TM four stroke, yeah, would never even consider it.
TM just reentered MXGP. They're not failing at all. Just not expanding in NA.
I have owned a 2021 TM300MX 2-stroke Excellent Machine!!! I sold it to one of my atv/utv customers & he has many hours on it & loves it.I then had a 2022 TM300mx 4-stroke with dual exhaust & loved it, i sold it to another customer that was riding a orange 2-stroke & he loves the TM also. I have probably only sold 10 or 12 but we haven't had any real problems with them as we are dirt people from way back They are properly assembled & properly maintained. Very nice & competive bike with awesome suspension

They are great bikes! All that time riding them with a pro rider and zero issues. Don’t hardly remember a bolt coming loose! Never touched the motors, clutch ect. Just oil and filter changes.
The new chassis feels even lighter and handles better than the previous generation, which already was really good.
Motor is nice and smooth off the bottom for technical riding and when it’s time to go the bike revs to the moon! If the heavier flywheel which is available now was available earlier I don’t think he would have switched back to a two stroke.
Did you buy the 300?
Have a look at my picture on my sign .
I’ve got a 23 Pink TM 450 mx I also have a 14 TM 530 mx.your buying as close to a factory race bike as you can and without the million dollar price tag.the pink bike will draw attention…..lots of attention, being a TM will do that.like it’s been posted they area reliable machine more than a alphabet bike, very good quality parts internally and externally.Italy doesn’t have to follow any Japanese patent laws so they can use what ever they wish.but they really are making their own parts.
As for the video of the tard with a 450 and how the dealer wouldn’t help him that was in California.Barker bros the importer for Canada helped him out I believe.you will hear nay sayers for everything. I’m not blowing smoke ,but I’ve never heard of the small amount of TM owners complaining about their bikes, needing advice on tuning, parts,or anything.yes we there is a small group of us TM owners and to be honest we wish to keep it that way,,,,,,it’s like finding a secluded beach that serves free beer.are you going to tell anyone……no
But if you ask around to any TM owner they will all say the same about these bikes.

I just noticed the SWM in the background.
Didn’t know they were still going.
I would buy a TM 300 MX tomorrow if I could. Hopefully TM finds a new distributor for the USSA.
I guess they are bringing them in nevada, the four strokes dropped the dual exhaust now back to single, looked like carb or fuel injection on the 2 strokes

Same guy who runs the Canadian distribution and also sells parts to all of North America at https://www.tmpartsnorth.com
Nice, thanks Stig! I grew up on a ranch outside of Laramie are you from there, or how long have you been there? Hit me up if you ever want to come shred the Wyoming riviera down here!
Pit Row
Oh nice! I grew up in northern Colorado on the front range, moved up to Laramie for school and just never left haha. Been about 10yrs now. The western slope has some sweet riding too, will do! If you’re ever back up here feel free to hit me up also 🤙
TMs are awesome! I still have my 2011 300 2T with tons of hours on it with no issues at! Just regular stuff (top ends and clutch) The 300 4T is a great bike as well. compares fairly (not directly however) to the KTM350. There is a new importer on the east coast coming on line this month that works directly with the factory and Boano Racing (TM's factory off road team in Italy). They already have a ton of OEM parts in stock as well as a growing aftermarket.
No 4t experience but I almost just bough what your looking at. Ended up getting a 24 300mx 2t also in pink mainly because I ride enough hard enduro stuff that the 2t just makes more sense. I have a 23 144mx and a 20 300mx and can say these are some of the best built bikes around. The bike you are looking at is a lot of bang for the buck and I would not hesitate to pick that up. Getting parts has been really easy and the biggest problem I’ve had with any of them has been the starter motor quitting on the 20 300mx. Dave at Get Dirty Dirt Bikes is mainly who I buy my parts from and he is quick to get them out. Usually have them in a few days. Though I don’t have a tm 4t I pay attention to tm stuff on social media and I’m not seeing anyone complaining about their current 250/300 line up.
I believe there is a new importer now. My dealer was able to get my 24 from a dealer in Italy delivered to my house. It was really easy actually and it cost the same as the 144 I bought the year before so that was great.
