It is impossible to not to like the guy, but he is beyond generous too (looking forward to this race):

That is awesome.
AP has a very rare thought process. He actually realizes that for the most part his life is absolutely fantastic, his family is well provided for, his career is well earned, and he does what he loves for pay. More than a few pro athletes actually live this life, the rare part is when they know it and are thankful for it .
Well said Bud.
I miss Cody and his dad.

AP is truly one of the good guys in the sport that loves what he is doing. I wish there was more guys that loved being a pro racer and the fans that cheer him on.
A shame more wealthy pros arent like him and pour into the sport that way. Instead they buy stupid cars n shit they hardly drive.
Good on AP.
AP is the best
Just because they don’t announce it or get a shout out, doesn’t mean there’s not more of them “pouring” into the sport. There’s quite a few pros that are very benevolent.
Good on AP! He is genuinely a rad human.
AP is a stud and good dude!
His upbringing played a large part in that! Kudos to his parents for keeping him grounded, the world could use more AP’s.
Its always sad to lose a friend, but I'm not sure forking over $10k a year is the right move by plessinger. He probably earns well but I don't think he's making Jett or Sexton money. Tough because the guy probably pays 50% in tax and doesn't get any type of break for doing something like this. Maybe Cody would have preferred he donate the money to a dog shelter and get a write off
It Aaron saw fit to donate it, then who are we to question where he spends his money?
A rich modern-American history of athletes with "money-in-the-now" being taken advantage of financially by associates and hang-around crews ?
Dude, your shit is out there. Not saying it’s right or wrong. But man, it’s out there!
The most heartbreaking moment in this sport in sometime was him hooking g his foot in that rut while on his way to a Supercross win.
He showed his heart then, and shows it every year by contributing to the memory of the Graggs.
hoping so hard we get to see it on the top step of the podium at the MXON.
Go team USA!
And this is neither of those. This is a race organized by a group of people who lost someone, and Aaron donated personally what he saw was an acceptable amount of money.
I have no idea why people think being a douche is personally entertaining, especially under the circumstances of mocking someone helping others. If you look at the join date for the kind fella you are responding to and post counts, you will see quickly you are feeding a troll here.

"Giving" never makes financial sense, but thankfully most Americans "give" to causes close to their heart whether it results in a tax deduction or not.
Also I'm sure you know the highest tax rate is 37% and that is only on adjusted income over $578K.
If he has to pay 13% california tax and then add the self employment payroll type deductions, in fact an independent contractor can owe more than 50% of his earnings to the state.
Ohio?
Florida doesn't have state income tax and if you believe anything else you just typed, fire your CPA. Immediately.
It's $10k, not 1 million, back it down with the 3rd grade accountant advice.
He would pay california tax on any purse money earned while racing in the state and also the whole SMX purse money he earned, since he earned it all at the last round in california.
Going by the rule of 7's at a standard compounding discount rate, that money will double roughly every 7 years invested in corporate stocks/bonds. So in 14 years that $10k becomes $40k. in 28 years that same principal becomes $160k. Still think its insignificant? Throwing around money?
Who cares, not your $$.
Hey not-so-PhunnyGuy, I'm sure you've heard this before: SCRAM.
Phuck off Phunnyguy
Dude, just shut up.
Hopefully whoever is fortunate enough to win what has become an annual tradition started by Chris and Cody's family will read your post.
Not the you-being-an-asshole part questioning why AP would donate to something important to him, but the reasonable investment advice.
Then the racer that wins that $10k and all the other money donated by those with memories of the Graggs can have something to be grateful for down the road in addition to coming out on top in what will be a hard fought battle.
God forbid sometime in the future they decide to contribute some of their good fortune to a cause that some jerk like you questions.
