Interesting point made on the RacerX review about first moto restart in LA. Barcia was down for awhile, rules say 3 laps must be complete for a staggered start, and they might have intentionally waited to throw the red flag. Matthes mentioned Anderson being in the lead, is this a Monster conspiracy thing or what?

Well if nobodys position was significantly altered by the incident they should do this every time.
The rules need to change on restarts. It should be staggered start after 1 lap completed... race considered complete if less than 5 minutes to go.
I personally would like to see it as a rolling start, maybe do a slow lap and then hit the finish line and its on. No real good answer to it. I'd rather not see anyone go down hard.

Interesting thought imho.
So the AMA tried to change the outcome of the race instead of doing a regular redflag/restart. They should get a written warning.
Staggered starts are a total load of bull crap. If no one is allowed to cross the white line before the leader, what's stopping the leader doing a false start and everyone else get disqualified?
My vote is staggered after one lap complete(only fair way to do it to me).
No throwing checkers earlier. Staggered from one lap to white flag.
Nothing the AMA does is consistent....
Agreed.
Far more likely they waited to see if a red flag could be avoided.
I may be wrong, but it sounds completely batshit insane that anyone would think waiting, to intentionally have a staggered restart, would give Anderson or Sexton or any other Monster guy an easy win 😂
What does the NEW 3.5 week old rule book say about it?
I am going to go out on a limb here and say because all the riders behind the leader also have brakes to stop before the cross the line?
I think they would try to avoid throwing a red flag because the schedule is very tight. Especially if it's a live broadcast. They don't always have time to push things back and risk the ending of the evening program not getting shown because the next program has to start at the top of the hour. Keep in mind we are not the NFL with clout here.

The medics call for a red flag, not the ama.
They are the only ones who know what the situation is on track and no one is ever going to leave them out there on track with an injured rider when they call for a red flag.
No one’s aloud to overtake the person in front of them until they’re over the white line.

Thanks for providing some context on this. Exactly the type of info I was looking for after hearing the somewhat puzzling comments on the RacerX review pod. Having to wade through Vitardism to decipher what's happening on the track is annoying, but there's no way to Thanos snap the idiots off this platform so here we are.
As dumb as it sounds there are valid reasons that the ama needs to flesh out the rules here. Theres quite a few ways that things could get sketchy quick. One example is say its the last race and the championship is coming down to the line. Say its next year and jett is in first with hunter behind him and tomac is in 3rd and needs to beat jett to win. Since nobody can pass until they cross the white line theres nothing stopping jett from taking off and hunter just sitting there for 20 seconds before going, blocking tomac. Or what if its not even on purpose and somebody tips over or their bike stalls, technically they have to wait behind him until he gets going. Everybody agrees to play by the rules so far but if a million dollars is on the line and someone wants to push it they technically could. I think staggered starts are the best option but they just need to close up the loopholes b4 someone pantses them. Also it 1000% should be after 1 lap completed they do staggered or with 5 minutes left call the race.
I've got no problems with red flags if the medics believe its the right call.
staggered starts im not a fan of... Should be like every other motorsport and be a rolling start. they all go over the finish line in last remaining order and race is on.
no matter how early or late in the race.
